Expert opinion and recommendation
Honda offers ADAS features, some rivals may provide more cutting-edge tech or more powerful turbocharged engines. The Elevate is best suited for those who prioritise practicality, comfort, and long-term reliability over outright performance or the latest gadgetry.
Recent news and announcements
The Honda Elevate has recently become even more compelling with exciting developments on the horizon that address one of its most significant shortcomings. I've been impressed by how this midsize SUV delivered a mature, well-engineered driving experience during its tenure in our fleet, and now Honda is preparing to elevate it further. The company is working on a hybrid variant set to arrive around the festival season this year, incorporating the same strong hybrid powertrain found in the City e:HEV. This Atkinson Cycle 1.5-litre engine paired with dual electric motors is expected to deliver over 26 kilometers per litre, making it substantially more efficient than the current petrol-only option. Additionally, a mild mid-cycle refresh is planned for later this year to keep the Elevate competitive with rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. These updates address the criticism that the Elevate launched without diesel, CNG, or hybrid options despite Honda's capabilities in these segments. The refined 1.5-litre petrol engine with manual and CVT options will continue, but the hybrid arrival signals Honda's commitment to recapturing market share in India's rapidly growing SUV segment with more diverse powertrain offerings.
The Honda Elevate continues to impress me as a well-rounded mid-size SUV that delivers genuine value for Indian buyers seeking practicality without compromise. Having observed its performance since launch, I find it particularly compelling for families who prioritize comfort and reliability over sporty dynamics. The 1.5-litre petrol engine, while modest in power delivery, proves adequately responsive in daily driving and city traffic, paired smoothly with either the manual or CVT automatic transmission. What strikes me most is the cabin's mature design with its uncluttered dashboard and premium tan upholstery, coupled with supremely comfortable seats that support longer journeys effortlessly. The commanding road presence, exceptional 220mm ground clearance, and generous 458-litre boot space make it genuinely versatile for Indian conditions. Safety remains a strong suit with Honda Sensing ADAS technology that uses just one windshield camera for assisted driving functions. Looking ahead, the anticipated hybrid variant launching around festival season promises enhanced efficiency exceeding 26kmpl, addressing the primary criticism about the current petrol-only offering. For buyers weighing options in the mid-size SUV segment, the Elevate represents a mature, dependable choice that won't disappoint during ownership.
I've been tracking the Honda Elevate closely in India, and the buzz is building for its 2026 updates that could shake up the midsize SUV scene. Currently, my daily drive in the ZX CVT variant impresses with its responsive 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine pushing 119PS, smooth 7-speed paddle shifters, and that ultra-high 220mm ground clearance perfect for our pothole-ridden roads, delivering real-world mileage around 15-16kmpl in mixed conditions. The spacious 458-litre boot and comfy cabin with six airbags standard make it a family favourite, though I miss ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof in rivals. Come H2 2026, expect a mild facelift with tweaked front-rear styling, refreshed interiors, and added features to keep it competitive against Creta and Seltos, priced from Rs 11-17 lakh ex-showroom. The real game-changer? A strong hybrid powertrain borrowed from the City e:HEV—Atkinson cycle 1.5-litre petrol with two motors—slated for festival launch around Diwali, promising over 26kmpl ARAI efficiency and 1000km range, all localised at Tapukara plant for affordability. This addresses the current petrol-only critique, boosting efficiency without diesel or turbo options, making the Elevate even more reliable for long hauls and city crawls.
I've been tracking the Honda Elevate closely in India, and as of early 2026, exciting updates are on the horizon for this midsize SUV. The current 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, delivering 119PS and paired with either a six-speed manual or CVT automatic, continues to offer reliable performance with 15.31-16.92kmpl mileage, a spacious 458-litre boot, and class-leading 220mm ground clearance perfect for our roads. Standard six airbags, Honda Sensing ADAS on higher variants like ZX, and a comfortable cabin make it a solid family choice, though it lacks diesel, hybrid, or turbo options right now. Come H2 2026, expect a mild mid-cycle facelift with subtle front-rear styling tweaks, refreshed interiors, and possibly added features to stay competitive against Creta and Seltos, priced around Rs 11-17 lakh ex-showroom. Bigger news: a strong hybrid version using the City e:HEV's 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol with two electric motors is slated for festival launch around Diwali, promising over 26kmpl ARAI efficiency and nearly 1000km range, all localised at Tapukara plant for better pricing. This could transform the Elevate into a efficiency champion without sacrificing its bold design or smooth drive.
Honda introduced a limited-run Apex Edition based on the mid-spec V and VX variants priced at a premium of ?15,000 over the standard versions.

Expert Verdict
Professional reviews and expert opinions on Honda Elevate
The Honda Elevate: A Compact SUV with Style and Substance – My Honest Take
The Honda Elevate is such a good-looking compact SUV that gets the style in style thing just right without skimping on the essentials. It is not another SUV like all the others. Much like that friend who is always hanging never ever does drama no extra bling but always solid reliable cradled in a ravishing package. We’ll break down why the Elevate may be a good choice for a rider who wants both utilitarian functionality and a bit of drama on the road.
Power and Doesn’t Overwhelm
For everyday driving, Honda made the simple and effective decision to go with a 1.5-liter petrol engine on the Elevate. Even in city driving this engine has enough power to be easy on the motor without being a strain. The Elevate moves as well as it looks, I took it for a spin around busy city streets and on the highway and it handled both without a qualm. The acceleration is quicker than you need it when you do overtake or slide firmly into that tight traffic gap. It is also fuel efficient so you are not constantly thinking, 'When's next fuel stop', which is a huge relief for daily commuters or road trip lovers like me.
Roomy Cabin with Some Nice Touches.
So let’s move on to the cabin where you are actually spending the most of your time. There is a surprising amount of space in the Elevate. Even for those of us over six feet tall, the cabin still feels roomy thanks to Honda doing a great job of that. The seats are great and very supportive they are comfy seats, and they really hold up for a long drive, all round they are awesome seats if you have the money. It took me an hour and a half to drive it one time, and I promise that I didn’t get that “driver’s backache” creeping in. The layout has everything put in its place, no mess or hype, just a straightforward functionality that keeps things simple and in reach.
Obviously of course, Honda did not miss the tech. It is a very simple infotainment setup with versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is just plug in and you’re good to go. It is all super easy to access whether it is music maps or taking a call. And the sound system? That is solid and if you are like me and enjoy listening to a soundtrack to going down the road it is a solid choice.
Our Safety Features are for Your Peace of Mind.
Safety is a big one — whereby severe to the point that you are driving in varying conditions or people that you care about. The Elevate also boasts airbags, ABS, electronic stability control and Honda did not hold any punches this list is packed with essentials. Picture this, you are driving on a wet road and even though you are thinking ahead you suddenly have to apply the brakes or steer sharply in another direction. That stability control? In such moments, it is a lifesaver. I appreciate knowing that these features are built in because then I can drive a bit more confidently especially in traffic that is anything but predictable. It’s clear that Honda carefully considered what drivers need for everyday safety, and included features that make dealing with safety a little easier.
Refuel Stops - Taken Care of by Fuel Efficiency
No one likes frequent stops at the pump anymore. Fuel economy is handled fairly well by the Elevate, especially if you are sticking with the 1.5-liter engine. It does not guzzle fuel around the city and on those desolate highway runs, you are not sweating over the fuel gauge. It is refreshing to be driving a lot of SUVs and then not having to budget for every drive on fuel. It is reliable without being heavy on the tank, exactly what most of us want in a ride we will likely see on a daily basis.
The Little Details They Remember
It is those little touches that usually stick with me and Honda does that well. It is a real bonus in traffic steering is light and easy to handle. You are not fighting with it each and every time you turn. The visibility? It is fantastic. Honda also crafted the Elevate with great sightless, so there are not blind spots to be had nor does parking or lane changes become much more of a chore. And the boot space? It is got plenty of room for a compact SUV. The Elevate has all that you will need from groceries to weekend bags to random stuff that always finds its way into your car.
In A Nutshell - Why Looks and Elevate Deserves a Look.
Looking for a compact SUV that is practical, reliable and not yet boring, the Honda Elevate is exactly what you are looking for. There is nothing flashy about it nothing over the top but there is enough character to have you enjoying every minute behind the wheel. Sure, there are SUVs out there with more gadgets and gizmos but the Elevate feels like that nice solid reliable friend who would not cause drama just shows up and drives.
