Honda Cars India launched the facelifted Honda Brio on October 4, 2016, priced at Rs. 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The update included a new front end, revised styling in line with the Amaze and Mobilio, and spruced-up interiors. This facelift was the first major upgrade to the hatchback in India since its launch in 2011. I think this update was a necessary step to keep the Brio competitive in the market.

The 2016 Honda Brio facelift introduced several interior changes, including colored accents on the dashboard and new seat designs. However, the seats in the top-of-the-line RS variant retained a more dated appearance with geometric patterns. The interior updates were aimed at making the car feel more modern and comfortable. I believe these changes were a step in the right direction for enhancing the cars interior appeal.

Despite the facelift, the 2016 Honda Brio retained the same 1.2-liter i-VTEC engine, producing around 88-89 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque. The engine was mated to either a manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). This decision was likely due to the engines proven performance and efficiency. I think sticking with the tried-and-tested engine was a wise move.

The 2016 Honda Brio facelift did not see any significant changes to the rear end, except for minor tweaks like the removal of the honeycomb pattern from the diffuser and the repositioning of the i-VTEC and RS badges. These subtle changes maintained the cars overall rear design while giving it a slightly updated look. I believe these small changes were effective in refreshing the cars appearance.

The 2016 Honda Brio facelift was part of Hondas strategy to align its entry-level models with the newer design language seen in other Honda vehicles like the Amaze and Mobilio. This move was intended to create a cohesive look across Hondas lineup. I believe this strategy helped in maintaining a consistent brand image.
