Producing 420 hp and 400 Nm torque, this engine propels the car from 0-100 km/h in just over 4.6 seconds, making it one of the fastest naturally aspirated BMW M cars ever. The M3 features a well-tuned suspension, large ventilated disc brakes, and a balanced chassis that delivers sharp handling and strong braking performance. Its interior is driver-centric with sporty bucket seats, premium leather, and an infotainment system, designed for both comfort and control. Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The 2013 BMW M3 (E92) remains an iconic performance coupe prized for its naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering 420 horsepower with sharp throttle response and a thrilling exhaust note that truly excites behind the wheel. Its chassis balance and steering feel are precise, offering confidence that’s engaging whether tackling winding roads or commuting in the city. The dual-clutch or manual gearbox options provide crisp shifts, enhancing the driving dynamics. The M3’s combination of power, agility, and comfort packs a compelling punch, but its relatively heavy steering in sport modes and performance-focused suspension remind you it’s designed for enthusiast driving. While newer M3 models are more technologically advanced and fuel-efficient, this 2013 model is still a highly rewarding drive with a raw, analog feel not easily matched by contemporary turbocharged rivals. The luxurious yet driver-focused cabin with supportive seats and quality materials adds to its overall appeal. For those seeking a pure and visceral sports coupe experience in India, this M3 offers a legendary blend of performance and exclusivity.

The 2013 BMW M3 is a remarkable blend of raw performance and refined engineering, powered by a high-revving 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 420 horsepower. Its precise steering, excellent braking, and sharp chassis tuning make it engaging to drive both on spirited runs and daily commutes. The M3’s manual gearbox delivers a thrilling connection to the car, while the automatic option offers smooth shifts for convenience. Its distinctive coupe styling and premium interior add to its allure, making it an iconic sports sedan. While it excels dynamically, one should consider the maintenance costs and fuel economy for Indian conditions. Overall, it remains a benchmark for driving enthusiasts seeking a thrilling experience coupled with BMW’s hallmark luxury.

The 2013 BMW M3 CRT, a special edition model, was recently auctioned for a record price. This car, one of only 67 produced, features extensive use of carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) and a 4.4-liter V8 engine producing 444 horsepower. It is notable for its weight savings and exclusive design elements. I think this auction highlights the growing value of rare BMW models among collectors.

In 2021, a 2013 BMW M3 coupe with the competition package and a six-speed manual transmission sold at auction for $145,000. This price is significantly higher than the average auction price for fourth-generation M3 models, reflecting its exceptional condition and rare specifications. I believe this sale underscores the increasing demand for well-maintained, high-performance BMWs.

The 2013 BMW M3 is part of the fourth generation of M3s, which were produced from 2007 to 2013. These cars are known for their high-revving V8 engines, producing 420 horsepower, and advanced technologies like double VANOS and individual throttle valves. The M Drive System, introduced in this generation, allows drivers to configure driving dynamics parameters. I think the engineering behind these engines is a testament to BMWs commitment to performance.
March 27, 2020
In 2014, only two BMW M3 CRT models had been sold at auction, with one of them failing to meet its reserve price. The M3 CRT was not available in the U.S. market when new, making these auctions rare and significant events for collectors. I believe the exclusivity of these models contributes to their allure.
October 11, 2014
The 2013 BMW M3 CRT was the first production car to use CFRP extensively, including the hood and front seats, resulting in a 150-pound weight reduction compared to the standard M3. This model was only offered in sedan form and featured a unique 4.4-liter V8 engine. I think this innovative use of materials set a precedent for future high-performance cars.

Price

Pricing details and changes

The 2013 BMW M3 is not officially sold new in India any longer, but in the pre-owned market, prices for well-maintained examples range roughly from INR 70 to 85 lakh ex-showroom equivalent depending on condition, mileage, and ownership history. On-road prices factoring insurance, taxes, and registration fees can push the total closer to INR 75-90 lakh. Owning such a high-performance, imported vehicle in India comes with premium maintenance and running costs to consider. This M3’s exclusivity and V8 engineering justify the higher price bracket and appeal to enthusiasts willing to invest in a unique driving machine. The relatively limited resale market and import duties tend to keep prices elevated compared to standard luxury sedans or newer performance cars with turbo engines. Still, for buyers seeking an authentic and engaging driving coupe with BMW M’s pedigree, the price reflects the experience and engineering excellence you get in return.
December 7, 2025
In India, the 2013 BMW M3 likely ranges from approximately INR 73-76 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting its status as a premium performance vehicle. On-road prices in major cities like Delhi or Mumbai would push this figure upwards due to taxes, insurance, registration fees, and handling charges, possibly reaching close to INR 80 lakh or more depending on location and dealer margins. Given this price bracket, the M3 competes with other luxury sports cars, offering an exclusive mix of performance and brand prestige. However, buyers should also budget for high maintenance and running costs, which are typical for performance BMWs in India. The investment suits enthusiasts prioritizing driving dynamics over pure practicality.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

In typical Indian driving conditions, the 2013 BMW M3’s V8 engine returns around 6-8 km/l, which is comparatively low due to its performance-oriented design and high displacement. When considering fuel efficiency and running costs, this is an important factor especially if you plan on daily use or frequent city driving. Maintenance and fuel costs will be on the higher side, so prospective buyers should evaluate if driving excitement outweighs these expenses.

The 2013 M3 delivers a mileage of around 6-8 km/l in Indian city conditions, reflecting its powerful V8 engine's thirst. While not fuel-efficient by ordinary sedan standards, the mileage is understandable given its performance focus. Prospective buyers concerned about running costs should factor in fuel expenses alongside premium service requirements, especially if planning daily use. For occasional spirited drives, these costs might be justifiable.
