Synopsis

Audi A7 Sportback is a four-door executive car by German automobile manufacturing company Audi which was first unveiled at 2009 Detroit Auto Show. The term Sportback means that it has a roof line with a steeply raked rear window and an integrated trunk lid along with the frameless doors. It has received a lot of awards and recognition on the world stage since its arrival. Also, from time to time, it has seen some changes in its design as well as engine. Recently, Audi India launched a new version of this Sportback model by the name of Audi RS7 on January 6, 2014 to compete with the rivals such as BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG. RS7 was first unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show and there has been a constant gossip since then about its launch date, sporty design, ravishing interiors and powerful engine. Let's talk about it in detail.

Audi RS7, along with the usual RS design elements, brings a lot more to the eyes to comprehend the true meaning of style, aggressiveness and subtle aerodynamics. It has got body colored new front and rear bumper, Audi Single frame grille in aluminum-matte or high-gloss black with honeycomb structure, company's logo and RS embossing, stylish full LED automatic headlights with headlight washers, high-beam assistant and separate daytime running lights, sporty bonnet, beautiful LED tail lights and rear fog lights, Audi RS exclusive dual oval exhaust outlets, aluminum-matte trim around exterior windows, an adaptive front and rear spoiler, power-adjustable, power-folding, auto-dimming and heated ORVMs with memory and integrated LED indicator lights, body colored outside door handles, power tailgate open/close, heated windshield washer nozzles, RS exclusive front and rear fascia, a new rear diffuser, glass sunroof, RS exclusive aluminum-matte ORVM housings and 7-twin-spoke (silver finish) and 20-inch RS design forged aluminum alloy wheels with 275/35 summer performance tires and anti-theft wheel bolts to turn this car into an innovative piece of machinery. This beautiful sedan has a length of 5011mm, a width of 2139mm (including mirrors) and a height of 1417mm as its dimensions and has a large wheelbase of 2916mm for a stable and comfortable ride. It has a front and rear track of 1633mm and 1626mm respectively and has a kerb weight of 2030kgs along with a fuel tank capacity of 75liters.

Audi RS7 has got a powerful 3,993cc, 4.0L, 8-cylinders, 32-valves DOHC with VVT, TFSI, twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with Audi cylinder on demand engine efficiency technology. It has a maximum power of 560bhp at 5,700-6,600rpm and a maximum torque of 700Nm at 1,750-5,500rpm and is mated with a 8-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox transmission with Audi Quattro all-wheel drive and sport differential to give a top speed of 2580kmph (electronically limited) and reaches 0-100kmph mark in just 3.9 seconds with a combined fuel consumption of 9.8 l/100km and combined CO2 emissions of 229 g/km. Also the optional dynamic package helps it to take its top speed to above 300kmph. It also has a bore and stroke of 84.5mm and 89mm respectively and an aluminum alloy engine block and cylinder head. The engine has also got a new feature called cylinder deactivation which shuts off four of its cylinders for greater efficiency under low engine load.

Audi RS7 has got four internally vented disk brakes of 391mm diameter at front and 356mm diameter at rear with black painted 6-piston calipers. Also, present the optional 420mm diameter carbon-fiber ceramic disk brakes with anthracite gray calipers. The suspension system consists of a 5-link suspension with double upper and lower wishbones and anti-roll bar at front and self-tracking trapezoidal-link axle with wishbone and anti-roll bar at rear. Both these suspensions includes RS7 tuned Audi adaptive air suspension with Dynamic Ride Control. For the safety of its passengers, it has driver and front passenger dual-stage airbags, front thorax side airbags, knee airbags and Side guard head curtain airbags, front passenger occupant detection for airbags, power central locking system with safety unlock feature if airbags deploy, ABS with EBD and BA, ESC with traction control (ASC), anti-theft alarm system with immobilizer, TPMS, safety belt reminder for driver and front passenger, LATCH in rear seats and electromechanical parking brake.
