Suzuki Motorcycle India has announced that the Suzuki Intruder 150 will be relaunched in 2025, after being discontinued in 2022 due to poor sales. The new version is expected to come with updated features and design to attract more buyers in the cruiser segment. I think this is a great move by Suzuki, as the Indian market is still keen on cruisers.

Launched in late 2017, the Suzuki Intruder 150 was the Japanese manufacturer’s answer to the Bajaj Avenger 220 Cruise. Now, a little over four years later, Suzuki has pulled the plug on the cruiser-styled motorcycle. The reason for the discontinuation of the Intruder 150 is its sales which have been falling rapidly since early 2021. Even though it was priced nearly Rs 10,000 lesser than the Bajaj Avenger Cruise 220, which costs Rs 1.37 lakh (ex-showroom), the latter is more powerful. Moreover, the Intruder’s rather unconventional styling could also be another reason for its downfall.

Suzuki Motorcycle India Ltd has removed the Intruder 150 cruiser motorcycle from its official website, confirming that the bike has been discontinued at last. Originally launched back in 2017, the Intruder 150 drew visual inspiration from the bigger Intruder M800 and M1800 motorcycles, and made use of the same powertrain as the Gixxer 150.

The Suzuki Intruder 150 was officially discontinued in India in June 2022, with the company removing it from their official website. The bike, launched in 2017, failed to gain significant traction despite its unique design inspired by the larger Intruder models. I believe the lack of sales was partly due to the strong competition from other cruisers like the Bajaj Avenger.

In 2019, Suzuki launched a facelifted version of the Intruder 150, priced at Rs. 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This update included some cosmetic changes but retained the same powertrain as the Gixxer 150. I think this facelift was a good attempt to revitalize interest in the model, but it didnt quite achieve the desired sales boost.

A special edition model of the Suzuki Intruder 150, named Intruder SP and Intruder FI SP, was launched in September 2018. These models were available in both carburetted and fuel-injected formats, starting at Rs. 1 lakh. I think these special editions were a clever move to keep the model relevant, but they didnt significantly impact overall sales.

Suzuki introduced the Intruder 150 in India in November 2017, priced at Rs. 98,340 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike featured a 154.9 cc single-cylinder engine and was designed to compete with the Bajaj Avenger. I believe the initial response was positive, but it didnt sustain over time, leading to its eventual discontinuation.
