No doubt that Hero Splendor Plus is a good mileage bike, however, it is important to note that over the years the quality has been steadily declining. For instance, the first model Splendor had a petrol tank and sound that resembled a Royal Enfield, whereas the current BS6 model does not live up to that standard. The petrol tank is very narrow and the tyres are too small to provide the same confidence as the previous Splendor models.

In terms of service cost and mileage, the Splendor BS6 FI i3s engine is quite good. However, while driving with the 4th gear at 40-50 kmph, the engine has a tendency to switch off when the clutch is applied in order to downshift. This issue has caused potential accidents and has been going on for more than a year. This is an indication that Hero’s engineers have been unable to implement a good fuel injection system in the old design engine.

In light of all this, it is advisable to go for a safer bike even if it gives lower mileage. It is better to be safe than sorry.
