Mahindra's Answer To Tata Xenon
Tuesday, April 14, 2009
Mahindra recently launched its first true MUV - The Xylo. Mahindra has tried its best to improve the overall build quality, fit & finish of its products with the launch of Xylo. Xylo has been priced very competitively as compared to the Chevrolet Tavera & Toyota Innova. Though the quality of Innova is still much better than the Xylo but Xylo's finish is the best in comparison to other Mahindra products - Scorpio & Bolero.
Now, Mahindra & Mahindra are planning a cargo/pickup variant of Xylo. The Xylo pickup truck would come about from Mahindra’s Nashik plant later on in 2009. Demand for a lifestyle pickup in the country would understandably not be as much as in South Africa or say Thailand. The idea would be to allocate a small portion of the stock to India and the rest overseas.
Mahindra, by introducing the Xylo is trying to operate with full steam in Nepal, Bhutan and South Africa where demand for bigger vehicles is comparatively more. Unlike the Tata Xenon which harbors planes and a boxy design, the Mahindra Xylo pickup would use curves and rounded edges.
Xylo's aggressive radiator grille - with chrome slats looks very cool and familiar like Scorpio and Bolero with chrome centre. The tops models will come with body colored bumper & integrated fog lamps. The sloping bonnet adorn the muscular front end of Xylo. The features further enhancing the imposing stance of the vehicle are its twin-colored outside rear view mirrors and wrap-around taillights. The exteriors of are well complemented by roomy interiors, which get a number of storage spaces tactfully located within the cabin.
Xylo Pickup will be powered by the same engine used in Xylo, the Eagle CRDe. It generates maximum power of 112 Bhp at 3800 rpm with maximum torque of 240 Nm at 1800-3000 rpm.
