Driving with the high quality of fuel efficiency and economical purchasing price have enhanced the popularity of the Maruti 800. Its lowest fuel consumption cost has made this car forever better choice for the buyer. Maruti has recently launched new model of its aging model.
The new model Uniq comes only in the A/C version and costs Rs. 52,00 over the regular 800 A/C model which is priced at Rs 2,11,176 Ex-Showroom Delhi. Maruti has already started dispatching the car which would come only in the A/C variant to its nationwide dealers since yesterday.
On the outside, the new-look M800 sports sparkling clear lens headlamps with projection-type reflectors and a new bonnet grille that sports three horizontal slats and a diamond mesh with the new Suzuki chrome badging prominently positioned at the centre. The car's styling has not been altered; so all the body panels remain the same. At the rear, the car has been given clear lens, combination tail lamps that improve the hatch's looks and also simultaneously visibility of the stoplights.
For the interiors, the changes centre round the seats and upholstery. The new 800's seats, including the rear bench seats, have been redesigned to provide better lumbar and thigh support. The headrests have also been slightly altered to provide improved whiplash protection. The new upholstery and colour combination inside the car exude a dual tone finish. The theme extends to the door inserts too.
New features in Maruti 800 Uniq:
1) New Body graphics
2) All new beige upholstery
3) Trendy door trims with fabric inserts
4) Ssmart lower console box
5) Rrear package tray
6) Sstylish dome decals to attract young consumers.
The company hopes to boost Maruti 800 sales which have been going down steadily. So far in April to June the company has sold 16,649 units of 800 down from 17,994 units for the same period last year, down by 7.47 percent. Maruti should learn a thing or two from other leading manufacturers like Tata, Hyundai, Bajaj & Nissan who are developing new models from scratch rather than giving a minor facelift or adding a few features in a design which looks very outdated and is also not selling well from last few years.
It was the darling of the relatively small section that could afford a car in the 1980s and the early 1990s and for 16 years since its launch nobody quite found the car lacking in anything. But after global car-makers crowded Indian roads with vehicles of every description in the late 1990s, it has been the most criticised car.
