Design
Fiesta comes with a contemporary automotive design that perfectly combines style and solidity. The front fascia of new fiesta is completely changed now. The new grille is placed lower and is shorter along with huge trapezoidal air dams and black inserts which give the front a very aggressive look.
The new twin-pod headlamps with a circular arc kink just like the Palio looks great and changes the front end character from the earlier boring looks. The new round fog lamps are placed high up in the bumper, right below the headlights further enhance the frontal look.
Update: Ford has launched a limited edition of the Fiesta. The limited edition is available only in 1.6L petrol and is priced at Rs. 5.55 lakhs.
The limited edition is a EXi variant and comes with following additional features:
- 2 DIN MP3 player
- Driver seat adjustment
- Reading lamps
Interiors & Comfort
The interiors have been revamped too with a new instrument cluster and the top of the line S model gets soft leather seats and mahogany wood central console as standard. Fiesta has more spacious interiors than ikon and has a taller body shape. Head and legroom in front are comfortable and so is the sitting at the back sheets.
Additionally, the entry and exit is more convenient in the front. Though it is not equally comfortable for an adult to enter and exit in rear doors. The independent McPherson struts up front and semi-independent twist beam at the rear have proved good.
Model Range
The New Fiesta comes with the choice between Ford India's Duratec and Duratorq engines. The range includes three petrol variants – 1.6 EXI, 1.6 ZXI and 1.6 SXI – and three turbodiesel variants – 1.4 EXI, 1.4 ZXI and 1.4 SXI.
Ford has also launched a sporty model named Duratec S with side skirts, 15" 5 spoke alloys, 2 Din CD Player, spoiler, wood finish centre console & brushed aluminium pedals. The 1596cc Duratec petrol engine develops maximum power of 101bhp at 6500rpm with maximum torque of 14.6kgm at 3400rpm. It reaches 100km in only 11.43 seconds.
The 1400cc Duratorq turbo diesel engine develops maximum power of 68bhp at 4000rpm with maximum torque of 16kgm at 2000rpm. Whether you are driving on city roads or highways ,the Fiesta ‘s performance is spirited and response .The way this car hugs curves and takes off at traffic signals will set your pulse racing.
Safety
Safety has been given through once over too with the top end SXI’s having twin-front air bags, ABS & EBD. Structurally engineered to withstand severe collisions, the Fiesta’s crash worthless is verfied with over 400 virtual crash simulations.
Optimized steel strength in critical areas along with structural reinforcements ensures passengers and the driver are safe even in the unfortunate event of a collision from any side of the car.
The reinforcement actually covers passenger from frontal, side and rear collisions. Moreover, features like anti submarine seats, fuel cut off in case of a collision & seatbelts that tighten when the car senses a collision, all contribute in keeping the passengers safe in any condition.
