About
The Premier Rio Diesel CRDi4 LX is a compact SUV that has carved out a niche for itself in the Indian automotive market. Powered by a 1.3-litre Fiat Multijet diesel engine, this variant produces 72 PS of power and 183 Nm of torque, making it quite capable for city driving and moderate highway use. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and features a fixed geometry turbocharger with an intercooler. The Rio boasts a ground clearance of 200mm, which is adequate for Indian road conditions. It comes in various trim levels, including the LX, which is the top-end variant. The vehicles compact size, coupled with its affordable pricing and good fuel economy, makes it an appealing option for those looking for a budget-friendly SUV. However, the interior quality and design could be improved, and the NVH levels are a bit higher than expected. Despite these limitations, the Rio remains a solid choice for those seeking a practical and economical compact SUV.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Premier Rio Diesel CRDi4 LX is a significant improvement over its predecessors, thanks to the integration of the 1.3-litre Fiat Multijet diesel engine. This engine, known for its high performance and stellar fuel economy, makes the Rio feel peppy and responsive, especially in city driving conditions. The turbo lag is almost non-existent, and the power delivery is linear, making it a joy to drive in urban settings. However, the NVH levels are on the higher side, and the diesel clatter is audible inside the cabin. The interior, while functional, leaves a lot to be desired in terms of design and quality. Despite these drawbacks, the Rios compact size, improved performance, and competitive pricing make it a viable option for those seeking a budget-friendly compact SUV. Overall, its a good choice for city driving, but it falls short in terms of refinement and interior quality.
Price
The Premier Rio Diesel CRDi4 LX was priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for the LX variant was around Rs 7.01 lakh in Mumbai, which translates to an on-road price of approximately Rs 8.5 lakh to Rs 9 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing positions the Rio as one of the more affordable compact SUVs available, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers. However, its important to note that the prices mentioned are historical, and the current market may have different dynamics. Nonetheless, the Rios pricing strategy was aimed at offering a value-for-money proposition, which is a key factor for many Indian buyers.

The Premier Rio CRDi4 LX boasts a 1248cc Fiat Multijet engine, producing 72PS of power and 183Nm of torque, which is slightly less powerful than other cars with the same engine but still offers a peppy and responsive drive. The car can hit 100kmph in 15 seconds and has a top speed of around 140kmph. I think the fine-tuning of the engine has made it quite competitive despite the lower power output.

Premier has expanded its dealership network to 50 centers across India, aiming to improve customer service and accessibility for the Premier Rio CRDi4 LX. Additionally, the company offers a roadside assistance program called PASS to enhance the ownership experience. I believe this expansion will be crucial for building customer trust and loyalty.

The Premier Rio CRDi4 LX is noted for its rugged design and suitability for city driving, although it has higher NVH levels and noticeable diesel clatter inside the cabin. Despite this, the car is praised for its smooth gearbox and linear power delivery. I think addressing the NVH issue could make this car even more appealing to potential buyers.

Premier softly launched the diesel version of the Premier Rio at an exciting price of Rs. 6.7 lakhs, with deliveries starting from August. This move is seen as a strategic attempt to capture a niche market in the entry-level compact SUV segment. I believe this aggressive pricing could attract buyers looking for a budget-friendly SUV option.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 10:29 PM
The Premier Rio Diesel CRDi4 LX offers impressive mileage figures, which is a crucial aspect for Indian buyers concerned about running costs. The ARAI-certified mileage for this variant is 23.75 kmpl, with real-world figures often reported to be around 18-20 kmpl. This fuel efficiency, combined with the diesel engines performance, makes the Rio a practical choice for daily commuting and occasional long drives. this car looks too small to call SUV.. mahindra's new quonto wud b better choice over this
i went to have a look on this car and found that the exterior are very good but the inside built quality like the dash board and the plastic quality are really very very poor it can be easily broken up by a small kid
so i suggest that don't opt for this one either you can choose the mahindra quonto or if the budget is a little high go for the Maruti ERATIGA
i want to buy it
