About
The Hyundai Santro Xing GL Plus is a five-door hatchback that was part of the Santro Xing lineup, which was a facelifted version of the original Santro. It comes equipped with a 1086 cc inline-4 cylinder Hyundai Epsilon engine, producing 62-63 PS of power and 96 Nm of torque. The car features a 5-speed manual transmission and has a top speed of approximately 130 kmph. Key features include power steering, central locking, air conditioning, and front power windows. The GL Plus variant is well-suited for family use, offering moderate maintenance costs and a fuel-efficient engine. Despite some limitations in ride quality and gearbox smoothness, it remains a reliable choice for everyday driving in urban conditions.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hyundai Santro Xing GL Plus is a solid choice for those seeking a reliable and affordable hatchback, especially for city driving. While it may not excel in every aspect, it offers a smooth engine experience and decent fuel economy. However, there are some areas that need improvement, such as the gearbox, which some users have found to be irritating, especially during gear shifts from 3rd to 2nd and 5th to 4th. The ride quality, though good at lower speeds, can be unstable beyond 90 kmph and lacks adaptability to poor road conditions. Despite these drawbacks, the car provides good value for money, with features like power steering, central locking, and an air conditioner that works well, albeit with some limitations when the car is fully occupied. Overall, it is a good option for those looking for a budget-friendly family car.
Price
The Hyundai Santro Xing GL Plus, although discontinued, had a price range that was quite competitive in the Indian market. Ex-showroom prices in 2015 ranged from Rs. 3.09 lakh to Rs. 4.51 lakh in New Delhi. On-road prices, including insurance, registration, and other costs, would typically be around Rs. 4.20 lakh to Rs. 4.50 lakh, depending on the location and additional features. This pricing made it an attractive option for lower-middle-class families looking for a reliable and affordable vehicle. Even though the model is no longer in production, its pricing history gives insight into its value proposition.
