Hyundai i30, designed by Hyundai European team in Germany, is soon to be launched in India in both petrol and diesel variants. It is a C-segment five-door hatchback car and India's second largest auto manufacturer, Hyundai Motor Company will launch it by summer 2014 (speculated, not confirmed).
From the exterior, it looks much bigger than i20 with its face resembling that of a sedan and the rear encompassing to a hatchback. It has a sporty look when viewed from outside as it has body colored front bumper with lower lip, large chrome finished front grille with Hyundai symbol, wing-like headlamps, leaf-like front fog lamps with integrated daytime running LEDs, curvy side lines from front till rear bumper through high wheel arches, 15-inch alloy wheels, clear lens tail lights, optional LED rear combination lamps, newer rear bumper with horizontal fog lamps, panoramic sun-roof for open-air driving fun with a wind deflector and a rear washer nozzle.
The interior also has the most beautiful look and many comfort features with quality fabric upholstery and colors, leather covered front seats and gear knob, a central console, leather wrapped steering wheel with AC, Audio and Bluetooth controls, adjustable power windows and outside mirrors, stylish and curved dashboard with 8 litres of storage space, 7-inch full-color touchscreen navigation system with rear camera for reverse gear, door handle illumination, blue instrument cluster, powerful AC with Automatic Climate Control System and Air Quality Control, rear AC vents, power steering, adjustable steering column, height adjustable front seat belts, dual USB/iPod ports and an auxiliary port for connecting and charging, a 12V accessory socket with an antenna on the roof, height adjustable driver seat with heater, electric parking brake, Active Cruise Control with speed limiter on steering wheel, 378 litres of huge boot capacity which extends to 1316 litres after folding rear seats.
The safety features includes active head restraints for driver and front passengers, ABS with EBD and ESP, six SRS Airbags, side impact bars, seat belt pretensioners, speed sensing automatic door locking, engine immobilizer, child lock, Isofix fittings, button start and smart key, fog lights, Xenon headlights with Adaptive Front Lighting System, rear wiper and defogger and collapsible steering column.
Hyundai i30 will come in to engine options, petrol and diesel. The petrol one is a 1396cc 1.4L four cylinder four valve DOHC Gamma petrol engine which has a maximum power of 100 bhp at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 139 Nm at 4200 rpm giving a top speed of 187 kmph and a mileage of 9 kmpl in the cities and 13 kmpl on the highways and has a five speed manual gearbox. In India, it is speculated that Hyundai will also launch a diesel version. It has disk brakes on all the four wheels. Hyundai i30 is expected to be available in three variants which are Magna, Sportz and Asta. The expected shades of this hatchback are White, Black, Red, Blue, Brown, Silver and Grey. Its expected price range is in between INR 8-9 lakhs (approx., may vary).
Overall, this hatchback seems like a good combination of luxury, comfort, performance, speed, safety, space and price.
