Xiaomi has revealed all three new models in its 12S Series of smartphones, which were unveiled earlier this year to complement the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro models. The Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro, like the company's flagship Xiaomi 12S Ultra, were unveiled during the company's 4 July online event and include a camera system that was "co-engineered" with Leica.
Except for the screen size and back camera features, the 12S and 12S Pro are nearly interchangeable. The normal, smaller variant has a 6.28-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2400x1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz and the screen size on the Pro is 6.73 inches.
A Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU powers both devices and comes with a maximum internal storage capacity of 512GB and a maximum RAM capacity of 12GB. While the counterpart on the 12S Pro employs 50-megapixel sensors across the board, the Leica-badged rear camera unit on the 12S features a 50-megapixel main camera (Sony IMX707), a 13-megapixel UltraWide, and a 5-megapixel telephoto/macro sensor. The 32-megapixel front camera is hidden behind a hole-punch cutout in the top centre of the display.
The 12S's 4,500mAh battery has a 67W fast charging capability (wired). A 4,600mAh battery with 120W fast charging is featured in the Pro variant (wired). Both models include 10W reverse charging and 50W rapid wireless charging. The white, black, purple, and green colour schemes of the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro will initially be available for purchase in mainland China. A global rollout's specifics have not yet been made public.
The Xiaomi 12S comes in Black, Purple, Green and White colours and is priced at 3,999 yuan (Rs. 47,200) for 8GB+128GB, 4,299 yuan (Rs. 50,700) for 8GB+256GB, 4,699 yuan (Rs. 55,400) for 12GB+256GB and 5,199 yuan (Rs. 61,300 for 12GB+512GB.
The Xiaomi 12S Pro also comes in Black, Purple, Green and White colours. It is priced at 4,699 yuan (Rs. 55,400 approx.) for 8GB+128GB, 4,999 yuan (Rs. 59,000) for 8GB+256GB, 5,399 yuan (Rs. 63,700) for 12GB+256GB and 5,899 yuan (Rs. 69,600) for 12GB+512GB model.
