Volkswagen Tiguan SUV has been officially launched in India for INR 27.98 lakh for the Comfortline variant while the top spec Highline variant is priced at INR 31.38 lakh. Both these prices are ex-showroom Delhi and the car is being locally assembled at Volkswagen facility.
It shares the MQB platform with other cars like Audi A3 and Skoda Superb. The only competitor for the Tiguan is Hyundai Tucson while its pricing takes it into the Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner segment.
The 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine on the car is good for 143 PS at 4000 rpm and 340 Nm at 1750-2750 rpm. Volkswagen claims a mileage of 17.06 kmpl while gearbox on offer is 7-speed DSG. Both the variants are offered with 4 wheel drive as standard.
The car measures 4486 mm in length, 1839 mm in width and 1672 mm in height. It comes with a wheelbase of 2677 mm while the ground clearance stands at just 149 mm. The low practicality due to lesser clearance makes it better for urban use only.
Volkswagen offer all LED front headlights, blacked out lower section, static cornering lights, 18 inch alloy wheels, all black interior and 615 liters of usable boot space. The interior features 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system, analogue digital instrument console, paddle shifters, panoramic sunroof and drive mode selector. The car remains front wheel drive at most times but the intelligent 4Motion technology sends power to the rear axle whenever required for Tiguan.
