Video: India-Spec KTM 125 Duke Spotted Testing Ahead of Official Launch

The launch of the cheapest KTM bike, the 125 Duke in India did came as a shock originally considering all the rumours were shut down by the brand due to their inability to price the motorcycle in India amidst a host of other competitors and with such splendid body parts. Recently, after confirming the bike’s launch, it has been spied testing at the Talegaon area which lies at the outskirts of Pune, the area within a closed range to the Bajaj manufacturing plant. The video that has been posted by 'The Dukeist' on his YouTube channel eradicates all the doubts and actually confirms the bike being tested is the all-new KTM Duke 125. The Duke 125 rider though, by mistake gave an affirmation for the same to the 'The Dukeist'. Once launched in India, the KTM Duke 125 is expected to be priced around INR 1.25 Lakh (ex-showroom). The bike will be powered by 125 cc single cylinder engine capable of churning out maximum power of 15 hp and 12 Nm of maximum torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Considering the fact that it is an entry level Duke model, the bike is not expected to get the Metzeler tyres, LED headlights, and the all-digital instrument console as seen in the International variant.

To keep the prices in check, the motorcycle brand might introduce the KTM Duke 125 with a Combi Braking System(CBS) instead of dual channel ABS. Once launched in India, it will be competing in the market with the likes of Yamaha YZF-R15 V3, Yamaha FZ25 and the Suzuki Gixxer Fi ABS.

Why there is no launch plans for KTM 125 Duke in India?
2022-12-29 06:10:26 AM
There are no plans for any 125 cc performance motorcycle including 125 Duke in India. This is because the bikes available here form various manufacturers are already localized in their 150 cc and 200 cc versions. Bringing the 125 cc bikes won't makes sense as they use same premium parts as the bigger ones and won't justify with a price tag that is nearly matching the Indian made bikes with around 300 cc of engine capacity. These are actually good for market with licensing restrictions as 125 cc bikes won't need a license to drive but here in India, the same license helps you drive a 100 cc commuter and 2300 cc cruiser at the same time. Is KTM 125 Duke is available for Tamil Nadu?

KTM Duke is currently available in 200 and 390 variants only. The 125 cc Duke is available in selected markets where license restricts certain age group of people from driving big engine bikes. The KTM 200 Duke is the smallest KTM motorcycle with a high performance 199.5 cc engine producing 24.6 BHP and 19.2 Nm of torque. It is a lightweight street machine with superb acceleration. The 200 Duke comes with a price tag of INR 1,43,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
What is the on-road price of KTM 125 Duke?
2022-12-29 06:04:53 AM
The on-road price of the KTM Duke 125 is not available simply because KTM never plans to launch this motorcycle in India. The reasons behind this are: (i) There won’t be enough buyers. Not many people will be interested in buying a KTM DUKE 125 when a Pulsar 220F is available at a same or a lesser price. (ii) Globally, the 125cc bikes are learner motorcycles. You don’t need a licence to ride them. However, in India you need a licence to even ride a 100cc motorcycle. (iii) The mileage of KTM DUKE 125 is even lower than the Duke 200. Indian buyers are very conscious about the mileage. Not many people would be interested in buying a 125cc bike that just returns 25-27 KMPL.
What is the exact launch date for KTM 125 Duke and RC 125 in India?
2022-12-29 06:02:51 AM
Unfortunately, KTM has no plans to launch the Duke 125 and the RC 125 in India. Possible reasons behind this could be: 1. Not enough customers for either motorcycle because they'll be priced quite high compared to other 125cc motorcycles. Rajiv Bajaj has said "Bring me one customer who'll buy the D125 and I'll launch it in India right away!" 2. Mileage is a big concern for Indian customers. Both the 125 cc bikes by KTM have reported a mileage of just 25-27 KMPL. This is because KTM engines are tuned for performance, and neglect other factors such as fuel efficiency. 3. The 125cc offerings by KTM are available in the European market only because the learner limit is 125cc and/or 15 Hp.

The KTM Duke 125 is not available in India as KTM has launched only the 200 and 390 series of Duke in India. It is said to return a mileage of 30 kmpl and the engine is capable of taking the little Duke to 120 kmph. It is water cooled and we expect it to be around INR 90,000 if ever launched.
