KTM Electric Scooter in the Making: According to the recent buzz, KTM is all set to use the new Bajaj Chetak’s platform as the base for its upcoming premium electric scooter, which is expected to go into production in 2022. The Austrian manufacturer offered a first look at what to expect from their electric scooter by showcasing the KTM E-Speed concept back in 2013.

The electric mobility for the upcoming KTM scooter is expected to be based on the Bajaj Chetak electric while there won’t be any style similarities between the two. The Bajaj Chetak electric features a retro-modern design language challenging the authentic scooter looks while the upcoming electric scooter from KTM will get an edgy design language with authentic KTM bits and colour combination of orange and white.

The reports also suggest that the KTM might collaborate with KISKA Automotive solution to carry out an interesting scooter design with unique electric mobility.
Since the brand has already tried making its niche in the electric two-wheeler segment with the KTM Freeride E-XC, which is currently available in the international markets, one can expect the brand to equip the upcoming electric scooter with more premium components and offering better riding capabilities.
KTM is expected to launch the upcoming premium electric scooter in the developed nations like the US and Europe first, followed by the other developing countries including India.

Currently, the Bajaj Chetak electric is powered by an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery mated to a 4kW electric motor that promises a maximum range of up to 95km while the top speed stands at 65kmph. The braking duties are handled by a front disc brake and a rear drum brake. The KTM electric scooter is expected to feature the same motor and battery specifications though, other details will be uncovered once the scooter goes into the prototype stage.
