After the recent launch of the BS6 motorcycles - the Apache RTR 160 4V and RTR 200 4V, TVS Motor has launched its first BS6-compliant scooter, the Jupiter Classic ET-Fi at INR 67,911 (ex-showroom Delhi). The 2020 model is priced around INR 8,000 higher in comparison to the previous-gen model of the Jupiter Classic. Article image In addition to the Classic model, the TVS Jupiter is also available in Base, ZX, and Grande variants, and as per the recent reports, the BS6-compliant iterations of these models will be launched shortly. For now, the company has not revealed the output figures of the BS6 Jupiter Classic but we can expect a slight drop in its performance as we witnessed in the BS6 Apache RTR 4V series. The outgoing BS4 model of the scooter is powered by a 109.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that is capable of producing 7.88HP of maximum power along with 8.4Nm of peak torque. According to the brand, the Jupiter Classic ET-Fi will deliver 15% better fuel efficiency. The ET-Fi in the name stands for ‘EcoThrust Fuel Injection’, which is one of the two versions of BS6 Fi platforms that the brand has developed. The other one is known as RT-Fi, which stands for ‘Race-Tuned Fuel Injection’. Article image Some of the key features of the updated model include a USB Charger in the front panel, storage space in the front, and a tinted visor. The all-new Jupiter Classic ET-Fi will be available in three colour schemes: Autumn Brown, Sunlit Ivory, and a new Indiblue shade. The Vice President (Marketing) of the brand Mr Aniruddha Haldar commented at the launch - “TVS Motor Company has always delivered consumer delight. We have taken the opportunity of the changeover to BS-VI, and are launching two Fi Technology platforms, RT-Fi and ET-Fi. With ET-Fi (Eco Thrust Fuel injection) focused on the Indian commuter, TVS Jupiter Classic ET-Fi delivers enhanced overall performance across driveability, smoothness, and fuel economy. Staying true to our promise of “Zyada ka Fayda” TVS Jupiter Classic ET-Fi comes with a convenient front mobile phone cubby, USB charger and a new tinted visor. I am confident that our customers will continue to repose their faith in TVS Jupiter in the years to come."
