Despite the anticipation surrounding its debut, images of the Renault 5 EV have surfaced before its official unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show. The production-ready Renault 5 E-Tech electric car is shown off in all its beauty in these leaked photos. Earlier patent photographs merely showed design and measurements; these leaks provide a better look at the vehicle's sheet metal profile, texturing, and light effects on body panels.

Design Highlights and Features

Renault's choice of a vibrant Yellow shade for the Renault 5 EV is particularly striking, accentuated by a complementary red line that extends from the A-pillar and wraps around the rear spoiler. With its multiple striking components, the design has a very European feel to it. Even with a few common components, the real model closely resembles the 2021 Concept car demonstrating Renault's commitment to upholding its design language.

The front fascia features a prominent Renault logo flanked by horizontal cuts, while a black graphic panel on the bonnet indicates the charging status when plugged in. The lower grill houses cameras and radar modules for essential active safety systems, reminiscent of the Porsche Taycan's headlights. The quad-LED element in the headlights resembles a camera shutter, with a similar effect in the LED DRL elements of the lower bumper.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the Renault 5 EV boasts a modern and tech-savvy interior, with rear door handles integrated into the thick C-pillar and muscular character lines in the rear quarter panels. Swanky alloy wheels and gloss black body panels add to the vehicle's allure, while vertically-stacked LED rear tail lights connected by a black glossy plaque enhance its visual appeal.

The interior is adorned with camera shutter-like patterns on the LED DRLs, extending to the climate vents. Notable features include toggle-style climate control functions, gear selector buttons, an electronic parking brake, a sporty 3-spoke steering wheel with an integrated start/stop button, and glossy steering-mounted controls. Two displays adorn the dashboard, offering infotainment and instrumentation functionalities, while the seat upholstery and door trims are color-coded with exterior shades.

Performance and Specifications

The 52 kWh battery pack of the Renault 5 EV, which is situated on the CMF-B-EV platform (formerly known as the AmpR Small platform), enables it to achieve a 400 km WLTP stated range on a full charge.  Powered by a single 135 bhp electric motor, this 3.92m long vehicle combines impressive performance with efficient energy utilization which makes it a compelling option in the competitive EV market.
