2017 Maruti Dzire is another tale of success in the good books of Maruti Suzuki. This recently launched compact sedan has crossed the 50,000 bookings mark and commands around 3 months waiting period for the top spec Z+ and mid-spec V trim models.
The long wait is even applicable for the VDI and VXI grades. 2017 Dzire is the most expensive model out of all Dzire models available till date. This is due to use of better technology and premium components that were missing from all other models launched in the same series.
The overall design is now more in sync with international spec Swift hatchback. It carries the same hexagonal grill, extended headlights and redesigned bonnet. The rear gets Ciaz inspired integrated spoiler and redesigned LED taillights.
Maruti Dzire starts at INR 5.45 lakh for the base petrol variant while goes up to INR 9.41 lakh for the top spec diesel model. Maruti has kept ABS and dual airbags standard over all the variants. The difference of INR 4 lakh (approx) between top and base variant goes unjustified with few variants.
The 1.2 liter, four cylinder petrol motor on the Swift Dzire is good for 81.8 Bhp at 6000 rpm and 113 Nm at 4200 rpm. It claims a certified mileage of 22 kmpl. The 1.3 liter, 4-cylinder turbo diesel motor is good for 73.7 Bhp at 4000 rpm and 190 Nm at 2000 rpm.
Maruti claims 28.4 kmpl of mileage for the diesel variant. Both the engines are offered with an option of automatic gearbox over the standard 5-speed manual unit. Extra boot space and improved interior quality makes Dzire the most popular compact sedan of India.
