Mahindra has introduced a new variant to its XUV line-up. The new model which goes by the name XUV 500 W6 is a mid-level automatic trim. With the W6 AT, Mahindra aims to make the automatic XUV more accessible to customers. Priced at INR 14.29 lacs, it is the most affordable XUV trim.
Mechanically, the car is powered by the same 2.2-litre, four-cylinder mHawk diesel unit delivering a power of 140 BHP at 3750 rpm and a torque of 320 NM between 1600 to 2800 rpm. The output is channeled to the road via a second generation six-speed automatic gearbox. Given the ban of of diesel engines over 2.0 liters in Delhi, the XUV comes equipped with a 1.99 liter diesel rig instead.
To keep the XUV's pricing low, Mahindra has saved on several features such as smart key with remote central locking , reverse parking camera with dynamic assist, electric sunroof, logo projection lamps on ORVMs, keyless entry, start-stop button, voice messaging system, illuminated key rings, door ajar lamps etc.
Commenting on the launch, CEO of Mahindra said ”The Automatic Transmission of the New Age XUV500 has resonated very well with our customers since we launched it in November 2015. I am sure that the availability of the Automatic Transmission across variants and a range of price points will now render this technology more accessible to a larger base of customers and make the XUV500 a more attractive proposition amongst a wide spectrum of buyers.”
