Next-Gen Mahindra XUV500 to Launch as Mahindra XUV700 in India

Putting an end to all of the speculations and rumours, Mahindra has today revealed the name of the next-gen model of XUV500 via posting a video on YouTube. The upcoming premium SUV will be launched in India as Mahindra XUV700. The brand must have opted for a new name because they are not going to discontinue the current-gen XUV500 and it would be sold alongside the bigger XUV700. As per the details available, Mahindra is going to start the production of XUV700 in the coming weeks while the official launch is going to happen between the Q2 and Q3 of the calendar year 2021. In terms of pricing, the XUV700 is expected to get an ex-showroom price range of around INR 15-22 lakhs. Here is the 'Name Reveal' video of the upcoming Mahindra SUV, which was codenamed as W601:

The interiors of Mahindra XUV700 is altogether different from the XUV500 and they have received several changes like twin horizontal mounted screens, one for the infotainment system and the second one is the instrument cluster. Other key features include a panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, a dual-zone climate control system, a flat-bottom steering wheel, USB charging ports and a separate selector for the connected car system. The Mahindra XUV700 would be powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine which is expected to generate a max output of 190hp power and the other option would a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine which is expected to develop a maximum power figure of 180hp. Both the engines would come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard along with an optional 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
