Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select Variant: An Overview in Simple Terms

Mahindra recently introduced the Scorpio N Z8 Select variant in February 2024. It's a new option that fits snugly between the mid-range Z6 and the high-end Z8 models. This variant offers some of the Z8's fancy features but is priced lower making it a budget-friendly choice for those who want a bit more than the Z6 offers.

What’s New with the Z8 Select Variant?

The Z8 Select stands out with its stunning midnight black color which is unique to this variant. It features bright dual-barrel LED headlights and fog lamps, but it skips the automatic headlight function found in the top-spec Z8.

From the side, it sports the same 17-inch alloy wheels and body-colored door handles like the Z8, but adds a touch of style with some optional chrome decorations.

At the back, the SUV maintains its stylish look with tall stacked LED taillights and a sleek roof spoiler. Again, chrome accents here are optional add-ons.

Inside the Cabin

Inside, the Z8 Select shares a luxurious black and brown theme with leatherette seats, just like the regular Z8. It comes equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen, which supports wireless connectivity for smartphones, a 7-inch digital display for the driver, and a sunroof.

However, it does miss out on some features like dual-zone air conditioning, push-button start, automatic headlights, and rain-sensing wipers. While it includes electrically adjustable mirrors, they don’t fold automatically.

Practical Features

For practicality, both the Z8 Select and the regular Z8 offer electric windows, but the Z8 Select provides an extra safety feature with anti-pinch windows that protect the driver from any accidental pinches.

The Z8 Select is designed for comfort with rear AC vents and a USB charger for backseat passengers. It's available as a 7-seater by making it a great choice for families.

Engine and Performance

The Z8 Select is available with both petrol and diesel engines. The options include a 2-liter turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-liter diesel engine, both available with manual and automatic transmissions. Unlike the Z8, it doesn’t offer a four-wheel drive, only two-wheel drive.

Cost and Competition

The Z8 Select is notably cheaper than the Z8, saving buyers up to Rs 1.66 lakh. It competes with other SUVs like the Tata Safari, Tata Harrier, and Hyundai Alcazar.

This new variant of the Scorpio N is a blend of style, comfort, and functionality making it an attractive option for SUV lovers looking for value without compromising on features.
