Safety Features

The Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select and Tata Safari Pure (O) are equipped with features like Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Hold Control (HHC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), parking sensors, and six airbags. However, the Safari Pure (O) has an edge with its Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), which is not available in the Scorpio N Z8 Select.

Convenience and Comfort

The Scorpio N Z8 Select comes with an engine start/stop button, all four disc brakes, and manual climate control. In contrast, the Safari Pure (O) offers automatic climate control and third-row AC vents for enhanced passenger comfort. The Scorpio N also features critical control and an adjustable steering wheel, while the Safari adds a tilt and telescopic steering adjustment for a more personalized driving experience. 

Interiors and Technology

The Scorpio N Z8 Select offers an eight-way manually adjustable driver's seat and a rear armrest, while the Safari Pure (O) provides a six-way manually adjustable driver's seat. The Scorpio N stands out with its one-touch up/down windows for all windows, while the Safari does not offer this feature. Both SUVs have electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs, rear wipers, and LED headlamps with DRLs. The Scorpio N adds rain-sensing wipers and a sunroof further enhancing its appeal. 

Infotainment and Connectivity

When it comes to infotainment, the Scorpio N Z8 Select is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Safari Pure (O) boasts a larger 10-inch screen. The Safari also has an advantage with six speakers compared to the Scorpio N's four, providing a better audio experience. Both vehicles support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay ensuring seamless smartphone connectivity. 

Engine and Performance

The Scorpio N Z8 Select features a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that delivers 200bhp and 380Nm of torque, and a 2.2-liter diesel engine that produces 172bhp and 400Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission. The Tata Safari Pure (O), on the other hand, is powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual or an automatic transmission, generating 170bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. 

Pricing

Mahindra has recently added a new variant to its Scorpio N lineup, the Z8 Select, priced at Rs. 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This variant is positioned below the Z8 variant and is available in both petrol and diesel options. In this comparison, we will take a closer look at how this new Scorpio N variant builds up against the Tata Safari's equivalent shape, the Pure (O), which is priced at Rs. 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom) following its facelift in October last year. While the Scorpio N offers two powertrain options, the Safari is exclusively available with a diesel engine.

Both the Mahindra Scorpio N Z8 Select and Tata Safari Pure (O) offer a compelling package of features, safety, and performance.
