Jeep Meridian May Soon Feature ADAS

Jeep has made a name for itself as a luxury brand in our market with models like the Compass and Meridian. The advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) module was recently observed on board the SUV by a source, suggesting that the American automaker may have added further safety features to the Meridian, which has not received any significant modifications since its launch. With the prospective addition of a new feature to the Jeep Meridian, the well-known automaker Jeep is well-positioned to improve its offers in an era characterized by swift improvements in automotive technology. The Jeep Meridian seen here is a Bosch test vehicle, suggesting that the car could be used for Bosch’s research and testing in general. However, advanced driver assistance systems have to be tailored for each car individually. Factors such as the vehicle’s dimensions and where cameras and/or radars can be placed based on the car affect how ADAS functions, warranting model-specific tuning.

1. Jeep's Commitment to Safety: The potential integration of ADAS in the Jeep Meridian signifies Jeep's commitment to staying at the forefront of automotive safety technology, providing drivers with cutting-edge features to navigate roads with confidence.

2. Enhancing Driver Awareness: With features like lane-keeping assistance and forward collision warnings, the Jeep Meridian equipped with ADAS could offer drivers an extra layer of awareness, reducing the risk of accidents caused by unintentional lane drift or rear-end collisions.

3. Adaptive Cruise Control for a Smoother Drive: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is a key component of ADAS that adjusts the vehicle's speed based on the flow of traffic.

4. Collision Avoidance Technologies: The prospect of incorporating collision avoidance technologies such as automated emergency braking and blind-spot monitoring indicates Jeep's commitment to preventing accidents and protecting both occupants and onlookers.

The Impact on Driving Experience and Convenience

1. Stress-Free Parking with Automated Assistance: If integrated into the Jeep Meridian, such features can take the hassle out of parking by automatically steering the vehicle into a parking space, enhancing convenience for drivers.

2. Customized Driving Experience: ADAS features often come with customization options, allowing drivers to tailor their driving experience to their preferences.

Industry Trends and the Evolution of Vehicle Safety

1. ADAS as a Standard in Modern Vehicles: As ADAS becomes a standard in modern vehicles, consumers are coming to expect a certain level of safety technology, and its potential inclusion in the Jeep Meridian aligns with this industry-wide trend.

2. Autonomous Driving on the Horizon: ADAS represents a stepping stone towards the eventual realization of autonomous driving.

3. Meeting Consumer Expectations: As consumers become more informed and safety-conscious, the inclusion of ADAS features in the Jeep Meridian aligns with their expectations for modern vehicles.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, the potential integration of ADAS in the Jeep Meridian signals a technological leap into the future. As the Jeep Meridian paves the path for the integration of ADAS in the brand's lineup, it's clear that tomorrow's driving experience is set to be safer, smarter, and more connected than ever before.

We hope to see the Meridian get updated with an India-friendly ADAS package like we’ve seen in recent launches such as the Tata Safari, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Verna, and Mahindra XUV700. Currently the Meridian’s safety kit includes ABS with EBD, six airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, and a 360-degree camera with parking sensors.  Presently, only the Grand Cherokee from Jeep India’s lineup gets ADAS, which gets features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist. If introduced with these additional safety features, expect the prices of the Meridian to increase. Currently, it is priced between Rs 33.40 lakh and Rs 39.46 lakh.

All the cars are good in their forte. The Fortuner is capable, more powerful, can look both rugged or city-slicker, and promises to be more comfortable on the inside. It's that big jump in price that is going to be a hard pill to swallow. On the other hand, Jeep Meridian isn't the most spacious vehicle, the cabin lacks the big SUV feel that you expect at this price point. But the interior quality is the best in the segment and the seating comfort in the front two rows is really good being a Jeep, its off-road ability is commendable for a monocoque SUV. In terms of features, the Meridian is well-spaced. Whereas, Tata Safari is a well-balanced 7-seater SUV with a great balance of design, comfort, performance, safety, and practicality. Moreover, we would suggest you take a test drive before making the final decision.
