Hyundai Casper EV Spotted: Production-Spec Model Prepared to Rival Punch EV

Hyundai's Casper EV production-spec model was recently spotted during testing in South Korea, giving a brief look of what to expect from this upcoming electric crossover. Based on the popular Casper ICE vehicle, the electric variant is anticipated to offer a promising range in real-world conditions, because of its potential battery pack. India might see a variant of this model, possibly in the form of the Exter EV with slight modifications to the market's preferences.

Design and Features

The production-spec Casper EV retains many design elements from its ICE counterpart known for its appealing and distinctive appearance. The friendly front fascia with its attractive LED DRLs and round projector headlights remains intact while a new circular element in the front grille, finished in silver, hints at the electric nature of the vehicle. The centrally positioned charging port, although covered, suggests benefits in charging though specifics are to be confirmed. The side profile features thick B-pillars and is likely to sport 17-inch wheels possibly with EV-specific aero wheels. The rear design mirrors that of the ICE Casper, minus the exhaust outlet.

Expected Features

Expected features in the production model include an ADAS apartment, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, automatic climate control, a larger touchscreen infotainment screen compared to the ICE Casper's 8-inch unit, a larger instrument screen, connected LED tail lights, rear disc brakes, and more.

Performance and Specifications

The dimensions are likely to remain similar to the ICE Casper, measuring 3,595mm long, 1,595mm wide, and up to 1,605mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,400mm. The India-bound Exter EV may have a larger footprint than the Casper, serving different market demands. The range is expected to be around 300 km on a single charge, with a wonderful 40 kWh battery pack.

Market Outlook

In India, the electric vehicle market is experiencing steady growth, particularly in the sub Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh, which includes offerings like the Tata Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Citroen eC3, MG Comet, and the recently launched Punch EV. With its unique design and promising range the Hyundai Casper EV could be a significant player in this segment offering customers an attractive and efficient electric vehicle option.

As Hyundai prepares to introduce the Casper EV, the market awaits a blend of style, efficiency, and performance in the electric crossover segment. With its cutting-edge features and potential range the Casper EV might make a big impact on the Indian electric car market. Hyundai's creative strategy may establish new standards for small electric crossovers providing consumers with an attractive and environmentally friendly mobility option as the market for electric cars expands.
