Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, the much awaited cafe racer from the company is here within us at the EICMA 2016. The motorcycle was teased at the last year show while its production version looks almost the same as the concept version. Based on the KTM 390 Duke platform, the new motorcycle looks one of its kind. More surprisingly, it will be made at the Bajaj Auto's same plant which manufactures KTM bikes.
Even being the same in the underpinnings, the motorcycle comes with a totally different approach from the 390 Duke. Vitpilen means White Arrow in Swedish and the motorcycle follows its name very seriously. The motorcycle carries the same 373.2 cc engine producing an expected 44 HP of peak power and 35 NM of maximum torque. Vitpilen 401 comes with distinctive features like higher seat height, LED front round headlight and even a shorter seat with a futuristic fuel tank design. The fuel tank capacity of Husqvarna Vitpilen 401 is 9.50 litres.

The motorcycle is an India bound product which may sell in the same stores as KTM and Kawasaki bikes. It uses 320 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brake, laded with Bosch dual channel ABS for enhanced safety. The front and rear suspension is sourced from WP while the bike weighs just 148 kg. Vitpilen 401 carries a unique curvy exhaust and ribbed seat for proper cafe race feel. Husqvarna offers rear footpegs also but the small seat may not be comfortable for a pillion at all. Ground clearance and seat height of the bike is 170mm and 835mm respectively. The Indian pricing is expected to stay on the premium side, making the bike stand around INR 2.40-2.50 lakh. If the Indian version lacks the use of LED lights and ride by wire system, the pricing can go down by a considerable margin. The motorcycle is a ray of hope for the Swedish manufacturer to gather bigger sales, which it never achieved in its life span.
