Honda City Hybrid e:HEV Makes Official Debut in India; Bookings Open

Honda has officially unveiled the City e:HEV hybrid in the Indian car market and also commenced the booking process today. The new sedan will go on sale next month with the official launch and will be offered in two variants called V and ZX. The Honda City e:HEV aligns with the company’s 'Make in India' aim since it will be built in India.

As for design and styling, the 2022 City e:HEV looks identical to its standard sibling however, there are a few elements that set it apart from the ICE variants. These are full-LED headlights, two-tone 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a revised grille, and a boot lip spoiler.

On the inside, the sedan gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an eight-speaker premium sound system, an electric sunroof, ambient lighting and more.

The Honda City Hybrid e: HEV has been introduced in the Indian market with the company’s Sensing Technology. The brand is currently also using this technology in global models of its hybrid cars. Honda’s Sensing Technology is a package of safety features that incorporates a variety of safety features, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, auto high beam assist, and emergency braking.

The Honda City Hybrid e: HEV is powered by a 1.5-litre Atkinson petrol unit that generates 98 bhp of maximum power along with 127 Nm of peak torque. It gets two electric motors fitted with an internal combustion engine (IC). With the electric motors, the sedan is able to generate a power of 109 bhp and a torque of 253 Nm. The electric motors have been into the front wheels of the car, which are further connected to a single fixed-ratio gearbox.

If we talk about the warranty of the car, Honda is offering a 3 year/unlimited km warranty on the hybrid model of the sedan. Coming to the battery, the Japanese brand is offering an 8-year warranty on the lithium-ion battery as standard. In addition to this, the customers can also extend their warranty to a 5 year/unlimited km or a 10 year/1,20,000 km plan. In terms of pricing, the Honda City e:HEV is expected to get an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 20 lakhs for the fully-loaded variant.
