In India, sales of diesel vehicles including SUVs have been steadily declining However some automakers plan to launch new diesel-powered SUVs into the market. The need for diesel options is anticipated to be met by these cars, especially in the SUV market where diesel versions are still very popular. Customers searching for diesel SUVs will have a variety of options with the future releases of vehicles from Mahindra, Tata, Hyundai, and MG.

Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

Mahindra's compact SUV, the XUV300, is due for a facelift. Expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, the updated model will feature cosmetic changes to align it with newer Mahindra SUVs. The cabin is expected to receive significant upgrades including twin 10.25-inch screens. In 2024 is when the launch is expected to occur. While the 1.5-litre diesel engine will remain unchanged, offering 117hp, it is unclear if both the 110hp and 131hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engines will be retained.

Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

Tata Curvv

Tata's upcoming midsize SUV-coupe, the Curvv, is set to offer a diesel variant powered by the 1.5-litre engine from the Nexon. Expected to be priced between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, this engine is expected to deliver 115hp and 260Nm of torque paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The Curvv's SUV-coupe design will set it apart in its segment competing against popular models like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. The launch is expected in mid-2024.

Tata Curvv

Mahindra Thar 5 Door

The highly anticipated Mahindra Thar 5-door variant will retain the 2.2-litre diesel engine from the 3-door model. Expected to be priced between Rs 16 lakh and Rs 20 lakh, this engine is expected to produce 132hp and will be paired with a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox. According to spy photos the Thar 5-door has distinctive design features that make it a standout option in the midsize SUV market. The launch is expected in mid-2024.

Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

Hyundai's seven-seat SUV, the Alcazar, will receive a facelift with styling updates similar to the refreshed Creta. Expected to be priced between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 22 lakh, the interior will also be upgraded to offer more features and a richer experience. The 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with 116hp will continue to be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. The launch is expected in mid-2024.

Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

MG Gloster Facelift

MG's flagship SUV, the Gloster, will receive a much-needed refresh after being on sale for four years. Expected to be priced between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 44 lakh, the facelifted model will feature exterior changes, including a new grille, light units, and bumpers. The interior will also see upgrades, and the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine is expected to continue unchanged, offering 161hp in 2WD form and 216hp in 4WD form. The launch is expected by the end of 2024.

MG Gloster Facelift
