Gestamp Opens Fifth India Plant in Gujarat With ₹523.7 Crore Investment

Gestamp has inaugurated its fifth production facility in India at Bhagapura, Gujarat, with ₹523.7 crore invested across the first two phases. The plant expands the component supplier's local body-in-white manufacturing capacity and adds hot stamping, laser cutting and welding operations.

The currently reported facility covers 31,790 square metres and employs around 240 people. Its installed equipment includes two hot-stamping lines, one laser-cutting line and welding cells for assembly work. Future expansion is possible, but remains subject to approvals and market demand.

What the Gestamp Gujarat plant makes

The Bhagapura facility focuses on engineered body-in-white components. These are the structural metal parts that form a vehicle's body before paint, trim, powertrain and other systems are added. Hot stamping allows high-strength steel to be formed at elevated temperatures, helping manufacturers combine structural strength with lower weight.

The plant is also equipped for laser cutting and welded assemblies. Together, these processes let a supplier produce more complete structural parts close to vehicle manufacturing hubs. The new Gujarat location complements Gestamp's existing Indian network of three plants in Pune and one in Chennai.

Gestamp's India manufacturing footprint

Following the opening, Gestamp's reported Indian manufacturing footprint stands at 188,000 square metres. The network has 14 stamping lines, including five hot-stamping lines, while two additional hot-stamping lines are being installed. Across its Indian operations, the company says it supports about 2,300 jobs spanning body-in-white assemblies, chassis parts and mechanisms.

Gestamp has operated in India for two decades. Its India revenue reached €245 million in 2025 after increasing by more than 80 percent over the preceding five full financial years, according to company figures cited by the reports. The supplier links the investment to projected growth in Indian light-vehicle production and increasingly demanding safety requirements.
