Ford has today launched the Mustang sports car at Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in India. Initially, the bookings for the Mustang will be accepted in Mumbai and Delhi and would be done in other cities from next year onward. Mustang has got retro touches on its exteriors including the nose and rear and also the bonnet gets a bulgy look. Mustang commands a muscular look with its broad shoulders and raked roof-line. It also has got projector headlamps with an LED signature motif and LED tail-lamps with retro-look that resemble the 1964 original.
Another amazing part is that the sixth-generation car is the first one ever to be developed for right-hand-drive markets like India . It is powered by the 401 PS 5.0-litre petrol V8 engine with 515 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to six-speed automatic gearbox. The Mustang can hit a claimed top speed of 250 kph. The American muscle car doesn't need special high-octane fuel to give this performance. It can do this running on regular 91 octane fuel only.
The Mustang has got aviation-inspired interior theme which is reflected with the airplane-like toggle switches found on the centre console. But to add to its modernity, there is an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well, four driving modes – Normal, Sport+, Track and Wet. Another interesting feature is called the 'Electronic Line Lock' which allows electronic locking of the front brakes letting the rear tyres free to spin freely and make those smoky and big burnouts happen easily.
Standard features on the India-spec Ford Mustang include automatic wipers, automatic HID headlamps, rear diffuser, ‘Pony’ Projection Puddle Lamps, heated and power folding wing mirrors, 6-Way power-adjustable driver and passenger seats, a limited slip differential, tyre pressure monitoring system, ambient lighting, reverse camera, dual-zone climate control, a SYNC2 8-inch touchscreen voice-controlled infotainment system, 9-speaker and amplifier sound system.
