The tag of being an iconic car is quite a hard achievement in the modern world. High number of rivals and that too with the same modern technology can make this thing even more difficult than ever.
Ford Mustang is one such story and believe me, it will continue the same for next few decades too. The American muscle car is the most popular sportscar with more than 1,50,000 units sold in last financial year. Out of these, 10 percent of the sales came from the European continent itself.
This is not the first time as Ford Mustang has been the best selling car of US from nearly 50 years. The achievement was further brushed with its worldwide popularity. The best part was witnessed when Ford launched the Mustang in its right-hand-steering variant last year, opening a whole new possibility of buyers in certain countries. The jump was by around 74 percent from 2015 and around 45,000 units were sold in non-US countries, making it the all time high export value for Ford.
Ford Mustang is currently available in 140 countries. The priced vary highly with the amount of high local import taxes in most countries. For a simple example, Ford India sells the top-spec fully loaded 5.0L V8 Mustang GT in India for INR 66.30 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The same car costs $37,195 (INR 24 lakh approx) in the US. The one available in India is equipped with certain extra features like bigger alloy wheels but still, the price difference is pretty huge for a car of its segment.
Ford India's Mustang is powered by a 5.0 L, V8 petrol motor that produces nothing less than 401 PS at 6500 rpm and 515 Nm at 4250 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It can be bought in Oxford White, Triple Yellow, Race Red, Ingot Silver, Magnetic and Black shade. The most popular shades that are frequently seen in India includes the iconic Red and Yellow. The feature loaded car comes with paddle shifters and ride modes that enables the best ever sprinting experience.
