Details Unveiled for the Base Variant of the New 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift

Expected to make its debut in 2024, the highly-anticipated new-generation Swift has created a buzz, especially since its recent launch in the Japanese market on December 6. This model is set to hit the Indian market next year, mirroring many features seen in the Japanese version. While the fully loaded variant has been extensively covered, let's delve into the details of the lower-spec model, specifically the Japanese spec XG variant, which corresponds to the India-spec VXi variant.

External Differentiations

Externally, the VXi (XG) variant exhibits distinct differences by omitting chrome plastic inserts in both the grille and bumpers. Noteworthy exclusions include the absence of a rear spoiler and door protectors and the package also includes 15-inch steel wheels with covers. Interestingly, the base model features LED headlamps and DRLs across the range, although it lacks fog lamps.

Interiors and Feature List

Turning to the interiors, the VXi variant lacks chrome inserts on the steering wheel, featuring full-black upholstery instead of the black and silver combination found in higher-spec models. Notable omissions in this base variant include a centre armrest and a climate control system. However, a touchscreen infotainment system and Suzuki Connect telematics, featuring a 9.0-inch display and six speakers, are available as an optional extra, priced at Rs 70,000 (121,000 yen). It's important to mention that features such as a 360-degree camera and level-2 ADAS are not included, even as add-ons. All versions, including the base model, come equipped with six airbags, reverse parking sensors, and ABS with EBD.

Powertrain

Under the hood, the base version is powered by the new 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 81bhp/107Nm. It is coupled with a CVT, but it does not incorporate mild-hybrid technology. The mileage stands at 23.4kmpl for the 2WD variant and 22kmpl for the 4WD variant.

India-Specific Expectations

As for the Indian version, it is expected to share similarities with the Japanese counterpart, excluding LED headlamps and the optional touchscreen infotainment system. Instead, a 2-DIN Bluetooth head unit with type-C USB charging points is anticipated to serve as the entertainment package for the upcoming VXi variant in India and the model is expected to make waves in the Indian market, combining style, features, and performance in an attractive package.
