Toyota Urban Cruiser Recalled in India: Toyota India has announced a voluntary recall campaign for the Urban Cruiser compact SUV over a faulty driver-side airbag module. Here is the official statement released by Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd: "Keeping in line with our Customer First philosophy as well as bearing the safety of our customers in mind, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd (TKM) has announced to proactively and voluntarily undertake a recall campaign on all variants of its model “Toyota Urban Cruiser” manufactured between 28th July 2020 and 11th February 2021." "TKM, through its authorized dealerships, will recall 9,498 units of Toyota Urban Cruiser for a possible issue with Driver Side, Airbag Module Assembly. In the interest of its customers, TKM has decided to proactively recall the vehicles for replacement of the concerned part, free of charge to customers. Owners of the subject vehicles under this recall campaign will be contacted by authorized Toyota dealers for inspection and replacement of the part. Customers with any questions or concerns can contact the nearest dealer or call the Customer Assistance Centre @ toll – free no 1800-425-0001." It is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, just like Toyota is selling Glanza, which is based on the Maruti Baleno.
