Tata Goshaq Compact Sedan in the Making: Currently, Tata Motors has only one compact sedan under its hood and that is Tigor which is based on the Tiago hatchback. The Tigor often gets overlooked by Tiago and has started to lose popularity in the Indian market.
After the launch of Tata Altroz, the compact sedan segment of the brand is not able to post good sales numbers. The recent reports suggest that the Indian carmaker is developing an all-new compact sedan, which could replace the Tigor. The new compact sedan will be based on the ALFA platform, on which the Tata Altroz is based.
The upcoming sub-4 meter compact sedan by the brand is rumoured to be christened as Goshaq. The Tata ALFA (Agile, Light, Flexible and Advanced) platform has been designed to accommodate hatchbacks, sedans, compact SUVs and MPVs with multiple engines and gearbox options that also include electric and hybrid powertrains.
Going by the recent updates, Tata Goshaq would be a much more premium product than the ongoing Tigor compact sedan. It will have more comfort, safety, and convenience features on offer.
We can expect the car to get a more spacious interior along with an all-new design language under the brand’s ALFA platform. As we have already mentioned, the same platform gave birth to Altroz. The car comes featured with a modular design along with ample features which makes it one of the best hatchbacks available in the market.
The Tata Goshaq compact sedan will go up against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Hyundai Aura, Ford Aspire, and the Honda Amaze. There is no information available regarding the launch timeline of the car as it has just entered its initial development phase. Mechanically, it is expected to come powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine which is further expected to come mated with an option of manual as well as an automatic transmission.
