Tata Altroz, the official name for concept 45X, has been completely revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The latest images of the Altroz interior has cleared how the actual elements of the upper section will feel to the fans worldwide. The most detailed element out of all is the instrument console, seen with an odd-shaped analogue speedometer and with a huge display that comes with tachometer and all details regarding the car. It seems to use the same mirroring technology as the Harrier and brings navigation and other details like music to the driver’s ease. The coloured display comes with odometer detail on the bottom section while the right side shows the fuel level in an interactive blue theme.
The dots seen on the screen resemble multiple views for the section, controlled through the navigation buttons on the left half of the steering wheel. The sporty steering wheel comes with a silver insert on the third spoke while the dashboard brings multiple layers with touchscreen display floating right above the vents. The premium essence from the interior confirms that Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20 will get a tough rival in the form of Tata Altroz. The flat bottom steering wheel looks smart and proves to be practical in front of the rival cars. Along with the interior, the ALFA platform will help the car perform practically among the rivals. The platform is versatile and is said to be used under the body of Creta rival Tata Blackbird.
Tata is using certain segment-first features, one of which was already seen with the inclusion of huge TFT in the console for ease of navigation, music and car management. The seats are well sized and available with a two-tone finish. Tata Altroz is expected to use the same 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel engine as the Nexon, producing class-leading power values and saving a lot in terms of weight from the compact SUV.
Both the engines are turbocharged and thus, the driving feel is not compromised at all. The upcoming premium hatchback is also expected to feature the same sort of safety rating as Tata Nexon. The Altroz hatchback is expected to get a starting price tag of around INR 6 lakh, and the car would be competing with the likes of Maruti Baleno, VW Polo, and the Hyundai Elite i20 in India.
