A recent test of the durability of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has brought laurels to the company. The Brezza is one of the highest selling SUVs in India and with its safety ratings now, it is bound to become even more popular. The Global New Car Assessment Program (Global NCAP) conducted the crash test and rated the compact SUV four out of five stars for an adult occupancy and two out of five stars for child occupancy. The results noted that the car was able to provide adequate protection to the head and neck of the driver and the passenger and its body shell remained stable through the test.
“The four-star result for Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza is really impressive. It demonstrates clearly the safety engineering capabilities of India’s leading vehicle manufacturer. It also shows the beneficial effects of the Indian Government’s new crash test standards helping to raise levels of vehicle safety. We are getting very close now to seeing India’s first five star car," David Ward, secretary general of Global NCAP said.

The two star rating for the child occupancy was due to the markings of the ISOFIX anchorages, which were not up to the standards of Global NCAP. Even though the 18-month old dummy was faced towards the front, the 3-year old dummy did receive quite a good protection. The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza was one of the nine cars by Maruti Suzuki that was launched in compliance with the latest crash norms by the Indian government. These latest crash test norms were enforced for all the new launches from October 1, 2017, while they will extend to the sale of all the cars from October 1, 2019. They have been set for full-frontal impact, off-set-frontal impact, and side impact on the cars. The chief rival of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the Tata Nexon, and it also received four stars by Global NCAP.Ad
