5-Door Maruti Suzuki Jimny Rendered: The Suzuki Jimny was showcased in India for the first time back at the Auto Expo in February 2020 while the SUV is expected to be launched in the Indian markets sometime in 2021. However, the brand is expected to start the production of the SUV for export to international markets by mid-2020. The SUV displayed at the Auto Expo was a 3-door Japan-spec version though one can expect the brand to offer a practical 5-door version in India depending on the dynamics. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door version has been recently rendered and one can expect the production variant to look exactly alike. The practicality of launching the 5-door Jimny in the Indian markets would result in maximum sales in the family car segment. The rendering artist has offered the 3-door Jimny an elongated rear to adjust the 5-doors which in turn has increased the overall wheelbase of the SUV. The radiator grille at the front has been surrounded with black body casing while the fog lamps have been tweaked to offer a sleeker outlook to add to the off-roading exterior. The SUV has been further offered larger alloy wheels while the round headlights, as well as the overall retro front fascia, has been carried over from the 3-door version. The rendered image also features the tailgate-mounted spare tyre that is seen on the 3-door Jimny. One can expect the India-spec 5-Door Maruti Suzuki Jimny to be powered by a 1.5L K15B petrol engine that is good for 105HP of maximum power and a peak torque of 138Nm. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard along with a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as an option. One can expect the Maruti Suzuki Jimny to be launched at a price tag of around INR 10 lakh and it will be sold in the Indian markets via the NEXA dealerships.
