Mahindra Alturas, the flagship SUV from the Indian UV brand, is ready for an official launch event on November 24. The details regarding the product have leaked ahead of the launch, taking the event ahead from the earlier given November 19 launch date. Alturas SUV was earlier called by the name XUV700, Rexton and Inferno, all of which went into vain after the new name. It will definitely undercut the popular Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour by a huge margin. It is based on the current generation Rexton, leaving buyers with an option to consider premium interior and exterior features for a better tag. The package comes with electronic parking brake and will be available in G2 as well as G4 variant. The former stands for two wheel drive variant while G4 will feature 4x4 as standard. Alturas is powered by a 2.2L, four-cylinder engine, producing 180.5 BHP and 450 Nm of torque. They are using 7-speed automatic gearbox from Mercedes to bring impressive levels of refinement into the SUV. All others in the segment are available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV comes with 244mm of impressive ground clearance and impressive tire size. Isuzu MU-X recently got an upgrade and the pricing was kept quite competitive in comparison to other two rivals. Mahindra is expected to take the things to an even newer level with better pricing, more prominent look and equipment list that can put many others like Tucson and Compass to shame. The prices can start from INR 24 lakh, leaving buyers with additional INR 2 lakh of jump for the all-wheel drive model. Article image Images Source
