Powering both the diesel automatic variants of the SUV is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine that has been further updated to comply with the BS6 emission norms. The engine is capable of generating maximum power of 173HP and a peak torque of 350Nm. The BS6-compliant engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. In addition to this, both the new variants of the Jeep Compass are equipped with a 4WD system as well.
Commenting on the launch of the BS6 Jeep Compass diesel automatic variants, Partha Datta, President and Managing Director, FCA India said, “We are strengthening and expanding the Jeep Compass range with the introduction of four diesel automatic variants, of which, the base and top-end variant will available to consumers right away. Both variants offer more equipment, boosting the value-for-money proposition for the customer which we believe will increase our share in the segment. This roll-out has also given us the opportunity to offer our locally-made BS6 compliant 2.0-litre turbo-diesel powertrain to consumers much before the statutory deadline.”
Coming to the Jeep Compass Longitude variant with an automatic diesel engine, the brand has equipped the updated SUV with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit mounted in the centre which features a reverse camera as well.
