The BYD Seal, set to launch on March 5, is already open for bookings. The base variant features a 61.4 kWh battery pack and a single motor, offering a range of up to 460 km, while the top variant boasts a dual-motor setup with 560 PS and 670 Nm of performance. Two important elements include a premium cabin and a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system. The price is expected to start from Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom).

As the most affordable sedan option in the premium electric car segment in India, the BYD Seal is generating excitement. Customers can book the Seal for a refundable token of Rs 1 lakh, with deliveries set to commence shortly after the price announcement. Here's a closer look at what the BYD Seal offers:

Battery, Range, and Performance

The BYD Seal will be available with two battery pack options and three powertrain options, one for each variant. The specifications are as follows:

  • Base variant: 61.4 kWh battery pack, single motor, 204 PS power, 310 Nm torque, 460 km range, 0-100 kmph in 7.5 seconds.
  • Mid variant: 82.5 kWh battery pack, single motor, 313 PS power, 360 Nm torque, 570 km range, 0-100 kmph in 5.9 seconds.
  • Top variant: 82.5 kWh battery pack, dual motor, 560 PS power, 670 Nm torque, 520 km range, 0-100 kmph in 3.8 seconds.

The larger battery pack supports up to 150kW DC fast charging, while the smaller one charges at up to 110kW.

Features

There will be three versions of the Seal available: Performance, Dynamic Range, and Premium Range. Standard features include a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, multiple airbags, powered and climate-controlled front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Leather upholstery and 19-inch alloy wheels are available from the mid-range variant.

Price and Rivals

The BYD Seal, to be offered as a fully-built import, is expected to start from Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Kia EV6 and Volvo XC40 Recharge, offering an affordable alternative to the BMW i4. With its competitive pricing and premium features the BYD Seal is set to make a significant impact in the premium electric car market in India.
