BYD Launches the Seal Sedan, Priced at Rs 41 Lakh

BYD India has recently unveiled its third all-electric vehicle in the Indian market, the Seal sedan, which is now available with a starting price of Rs 41 lakh (ex-showroom). There are three different versions of the Seal available: Dynamic Range, Premium Range, and Performance. Each has a different powertrain option and a different set of features. Variants and Pricing

The Seal sedan is available in the following variants, each commanding a different price point:

  • Dynamic Range: Priced at Rs 41 lakh
  • Premium Range: Priced at Rs 45.55 lakh
  • Performance: Priced at Rs 53 lakh

BYD India is providing additional advantages for customers who reserve the Seal by March 31, 2024. These benefits include one free inspection service, a vehicle-to-load power supply unit, a 3 kW portable charging box, and free installation of a 7 kW charger. The booking amount for the Seal is set at Rs 1.25 lakh, with deliveries expected to start shortly after booking.

Design

The BYD Seal boasts a modern and sleek design, characterized by its slim LED headlights and distinctive C-shaped daytime running lights. The vehicle's aerodynamics are enhanced by its five-split spoke alloy wheels, and the rear end features an aggressive look with connected LED tail lamps and a faux diffuser-style trim on the bumper.

Interior

The inside of the Seal has a clean dashboard with lots of swoops and curves. A standout feature is the rotatable 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system which can be positioned in either horizontal or vertical orientations. The driver benefits from a chunky steering wheel and a clear 10.25-inch digital driver's display.

Features

The Seal comes packed with features, including the aforementioned touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, dual-zone climate control, a Dynaudio sound system, powered front seats with heating and ventilation, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and a comprehensive safety suite with 9 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Powertrain Options

The Seal offers a variety of powertrain options across its three variants:

  • Dynamic Range: Single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) with 204 PS and 310 Nm, paired with a 61.4 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 510 km.
  • Premium Range: Single-motor RWD with 313 PS and 360 Nm, paired with an 82.5 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 650 km.
  • Performance: Dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) with 530 PS and 670 Nm, paired with an 82.5 kWh battery, offering a claimed range of 580 km.

Rivals

In the Indian market, the BYD Seal competes with other electric models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, and the BMW i4, offering consumers a range of options in the electric sedan segment.
