Xtreme 200R was officially unveiled through a media event by Hero MotoCorp in India. This finally ends the naming issues for flagship Xtreme motorcycle as it was earlier projected as Xtreme 200S and Xtreme NXT 200.
Hero cleared the fact that they are targeting buyers under 30, that too with 35% of them being college students, who need to keep overall expenses low and style factor high.
They believe that Xtreme 200R may not be their first motorcycle and thus, reasonable power will makes decision making easier for them. 200R is almost similar to Auto Expo concept seen 2 years back.
Xtreme 200R uses an air cooled 200cc engine producing 18.1 BHP of maximum power and 17.1 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. This makes it lower spec bike when compared to NS200 or RTR 200 but none out of both could return as good mileage as Xtreme 200R.
Also, they have achieved lighter body weight of just 146 kg to compensate for the power restriction. The best part for 200R is the availability of ABS as Hero mentioned the same in their braking section. If well placed under INR 1 lakh with ABS, Xtreme 200R could get popular for its rider friendly features and safety enhancement.
The motorcycle comes with 37mm front telescopic forks with anti friction bush, 8-step adjustable rear monoshock and disc brakes at both ends. The design is not so appealing but riders would love its tall placed handlebar and comfortable, long saddle.
The headlight is highly inspired from the younger Xtreme and thus, one gets LED daytime running lights along with halogen headlight. Indicators and taillight on Xtreme 200R is LED type. Buyers will be offered with five shades, most of them being dual tone in nature. Hero claims a top speed of 112 kmph (V-Box tested) for 200cc Xtreme.
