Ather Konarc Completes 60 Days of Sub-Zero Himalayan Testing

Ather has completed a 60-day cold-weather test programme for its upcoming Konarc electric scooter in the Himalayas. The company says the scooter was evaluated in temperatures ranging from -4°C to 3°C ahead of its scheduled reveal on 29 August 2026.

The programme focused on battery efficiency, cold charging, electronics and the durability of key components. Ather has not yet announced the final battery capacity, range, performance or price of the production scooter.

Why cold testing is important for an EV

Low temperatures can affect battery chemistry, available energy, charging behaviour and the accuracy of range estimation. Testing in a controlled cold-weather programme gives engineers data to refine thermal management, software calibration and protection strategies before production.

Cold conditions also expose mechanical and electronic weaknesses that may not appear in a conventional city cycle. Switchgear, displays, connectors, seals and suspension components must continue to work after repeated temperature changes and rough-road use.

Ather has confirmed the duration, temperature range and broad engineering focus of the Himalayan programme. The company has also confirmed the 29 August reveal date, when the production design and market positioning should become clearer.

These testing details do not reveal the final certified range or performance. Any battery, motor or pricing figures circulating before the event should be treated as expectations unless they are published directly by Ather.

What Konarc needs to answer at reveal

The key questions are battery size, claimed range, charging time, storage, connected features and how the scooter fits alongside Ather’s existing 450 and Rizta families. The price and delivery timeline will determine whether Konarc expands the brand into a new customer segment.
