Gulf Oil Targets 240 Million Litres of Lubricant Capacity by March 2027
Gulf Oil plans to expand installed lubricant blending capacity from 140 million to 240 million litres across Chennai and Silvassa.
Gulf Oil Lubricants India is targeting 240 million litres of installed lubricant blending capacity by March 2027, up from a disclosed starting point of 140 million litres. The company’s board approved a ₹55 crore expansion covering Chennai and Silvassa. The March target refers to the planned capacity becoming operational.
How much capacity does each plant add?
Gulf Oil’s approved plan allocates 50 million additional litres of capacity to each site. That doubles the Chennai plant’s disclosed starting capacity and expands the larger Silvassa facility from 90 million to 140 million litres.
| Plant | Disclosed baseline | Planned capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Chennai | 50 million litres | 100 million litres |
| Silvassa | 90 million litres | 140 million litres |
| Combined | 140 million litres | 240 million litres |

What does the expansion mean for the lubricant business?
More blending capacity gives Gulf Oil room to supply additional automotive and industrial lubricant demand. Installed capacity describes the volume the facilities are set up to handle. Actual production will depend on commissioning, utilisation and demand. For distributors and industrial buyers, the next milestone is confirmation that the additional lines are operational and available for supply.
