Do you get what you pay for in the Skoda Kylaq’s interior?

If you like the little details, I think it's worth it. The steering wheel is great in hand, the seats are really comfortable and have a satisfying click to the switches and buttons. To me, it’s those small things that make it feel more premium.

And let’s be real, you’re paying for the badge as well. That is reflected in the price as Skoda has a more premium image than Maruti or Tata. Whether or not that's worth it is up to you, but the amount you value brand perception.
Do you get what you pay for in the Skoda Kylaq’s interior?

In fact, I actually like the Kylaq's interior better than some more expensive SUVs. Nothing is trying too hard to be flashy, it's just well designed and functional. Sometimes less is more.
How do you rate on build quality and reliability compared in the Enyaq to other Skoda models?
06 January 2025 10:23
I would say the build quality on my Enyaq is very good. In 18 months of ownership, I haven’t had any rattles or issues and it feels more premium than my old Octavia. This one is nailed by Skoda.

I've had mixed experiences. It's well put together, I've had some electrical gremlins that required dealer visits. My old Superb is not as bulletproof as this.

The Enyaq feels as well built as you’d come to expect from a VW. Skoda has done a great job of transitioning to EVs without losing quality, I think. It is most certainly up there with the more expensive brands.

The build quality is good but I can’t say it’s reliable. I’m having issues with the steering assist, and keyless entry too. For a new car, it's spent more time at the dealer than I would like.
How do you rate on build quality and reliability compared in the Enyaq to other Skoda models?

I think people are unrealistic. Skoda’s Enyaq is a first gen EV and therefore some teething problems expected. All in all I feel like it is solid and well made.
How do you rate on build quality and reliability compared in the Enyaq to other Skoda models?

The Enyaq’s build quality is fine, it’s just the software reliability that’s the problem. Modern EVs are only half the story when it comes to physical build.

As someone who's had a few Skodas in the past, the Enyaq feels like a move up in terms of the materials and assembly. It's not perfect but for the price point it's pretty impressive.
But is the Nissan Kicks really a good value for your money, or would you be better off spending a little more on a competitor?

If you’re just looking for basic transportation, the Kicks is unbeatable value. Not everyone has to, or wants to, pay for fancy features.

I'd rather spend a few grand more and get a Honda HR-V or Mazda CX 30. Better resale value and better driving dynamics.

It depends on what you value. The Kicks, if you don’t mind having the latest tech and safety features but don’t want to pay top dollar, is tough to beat.

The base model is good value but once you start adding options the price creeps up until it's in competition with other, better SUVs.

I think it's good value for a first car or city runabout, but if you have a lot of highway mileage, you'd want something with more power.

Don’t forget to add insurance costs. On top of that, the Kicks is cheaper to insure than most competitors.

If you plan to hold it long term, it’s only good value. Depreciation is pretty steep, so if you sell after a few years you'll take a hit.

You could get a lightly used compact SUV with more space and better performance for the price of a well equipped Kicks. Value is the way to go used.
Can you forgive the quirks of the Nissan Juke for its fuel efficiency?
06 January 2025 07:58
It’s not mind blowing fuel efficiency, but it’s decent. Basically, Nissan is saying, 'Here's this weird looking car, but at least you won't go bankrupt at the pump... entirely.'

In the city, I get great mileage in my Juke. Not a Prius, but pretty good for something with a bit of pep. It definitely helps counter the quirks for me.
