I have mine rock solid for 50k miles. All you have to do is change the oil religiously and don't abuse it.

Although you can rely on them, the parts and labor are not cheap when something goes wrong. Factor that into ownership costs.

The engine is good but electrical gremlins on higher mileage bikes have been an issue for me. Keep that in mind.

An R6 will last a long time as long as you aren't constantly bouncing it off the rev limiter. They're overbuilt for street use.

So long as they are used in racing, bikes like the R6 will remain relevant. This is the closest thing to a race bike for the street.
