What are the best mods for a Yamaha R6 that I mainly ride on the street?

Quite a few people modify motorcycles and the Yamaha R6 has a lot of aftermarket support. But with the bike already so high performance, there’s debate over which changes actually make it better for street use versus more cosmetic or track oriented. For example exhaust system, suspension, ergonomics or electronics are the most common areas for modification. There are those who say the R6 is best left stock for reliability and others who believe certain mods make a big difference on the street riding experience. It is usually a discussion of balancing performance gains against practical improvements for daily use, and of the cost effectiveness of various modifications.

Forget performance mods. Try to make it comfortable – better seat, adjustable levers, perhaps a wind screen for longer rides.

The bike wakes up nicely with an ECU flash and full exhaust system. It makes it much more usable on the street.

Honestly, just leave it stock. The R6 is already a beast. Instead of putting your money towards track days, put it towards your safety equipment.

A tail tidy and frame sliders are must haves. Better looks, without messing with performance, and protection.

The comfort difference with adjustable rearsets can be huge without changing the character of the bike.

It’s a game changer for street and track. It just feels cool, and it shifts smoothly.

The best mod for any bike is good tires. Before anything else, spend your money there.
