In fact, mods are actually better off now than they were when new. There’s tons of parts available and people have worked out all the quirks and best upgrades over the years.

Absolutely still worth it. The FZ V3 is a well tested platform that is as reliable as hell. Why make things complicated with fancy electronics that will just break?

It's seriously outdated now, no way. It’s been left in the dust feature wise and performance wise by the competition. These days you can get so much more bike for your money.

It depends on what you are after. The FZ V3 is still solid if you just want something reliable, comfortable and simple for a commuter that will run forever. If you want thrills, look elsewhere.

I'd say it's still relevant. It’s been updated regularly by Yamaha and the latest version has decent features for the price. And that build quality is just too hard to beat.

The FZ V3 is the Nokia 3310 of bikes – reliable, but seriously stuck in the past. Unless you’re on a really tight budget in 2025, there are much better options.

It's still a great choice for new riders. It’s easy to handle, forgiving, and cheap to maintain. You know, not everyone needs the latest and greatest.

I would not buy one new in 2025, but I love mine. It's all about the used market, you can get a well maintained FZ V3 for a steal that will run forever.

In some ways it’s outdated, but that’s part of its charm. There are no riding modes, no fancy TFT display, just pure, simple biking. Sometimes less is more.

It's way overblown. I’ve had my FZ V3 for years and never had an issue with the tank panel. Everyone loves to complain online.

Nah, it's a real problem. After a few months mine started rattling. This is another one where Yamaha really dropped the ball.

It's hit or miss. Some bikes have problems, some bikes don't. When it does happen, it's really annoying and the whole bike just feels cheap.

Yamaha has definitely fixed most of these problems in later production runs, but the early models were a mess. If you are buying used, always check the manufacturing date.

It’s more about expectations, I think. It’s a budget bike so yeah it’s not the sturdiest panel out there. What do people expect, tank armour?

It's as simple as design flaw. They just attached the panel in a way that's just asking for trouble. However, very easy fix - just need some better screws and loctite.

I've seen some pretty ugly cases, particularly on dropped bikes. It's a constant headache once that panel gets loose.

It’s made too much fuss of by people. Now, it’s not perfect, but if it does start to rattle, it’s a super easy DIY fix. There’s no need to avoid the whole bike because of it.

The city is still the FZ V3’s own. The low end torque makes it really nippy in traffic, leaving 200cc bikes in the dust many times.

200cc bikes now smoke the FZ V3, no contest. The fact is that the tech has come so far that they're not just more powerful, they're often more efficient too.

It's not all about power. It’s still one of the most comfortable and easiest bikes to ride daily. Not many people want, or need, extra horses.
