I like the low seat height as a shorter rider. It is comfortable in the city and on longer rides. It's all relative to what your body type is.

It’s a little bit firmer in suspension, which is good for handling but tiring on long rides over bumpy roads. It's a trade-off.

I’ve toured on mine, and it isn’t ideal, but it’s doable. Just pack light, adjust your expectations and enjoy the ride. Sometimes it's more about the journey, than it is about the bike.

The biggest issue I’ve had honestly is just normal wear and tear. It'll run forever if you change the oil regularly.

After a few years, the electrical system starts acting up. The rectifier has had to be replaced and I have had problems with the instrument cluster.

In 4 years of ownership I've had zero problems. If you follow the service manual it will treat you right.

Over time the fuel injection gets a little finicky. It’s nothing major, but it can use a little attention every now and then to keep it running smoothly.

If you park it a lot in the sun they don't age well with the paint and plastics. Buy a good cover or garage space.

Adjusting the clutch cable seems to happen more often on this bike than on other bikes I've had. Not a big problem but annoying.

It's still good for cosmetic mods, but performance wise you're better off starting with a more modern platform I'd say.

The FZ V3 is a great budget build. You can find one used cheap and turn it into something really unique without spending a ton of money.

It’s okay, but there’s no modern features so you can’t do much. Can't add fancy electronics like on newer bikes, or quickshifters.

The problem is, you can mod it all you want, but at its core, it’s still an FZ V3. You can only do so much with that base.
