TVS Draken was a concept bike shown at the Auto Expo and would not make way into the Indian automobile market. The TVT Apache RTR 200, which is expected to be launched soon is said to be based upon the Draken concept, but with a smaller engine option. The Draken was seen with a 250 cc, short stroke, race inspired engine producing 38.5 BHP and 23 NM of torque from its liquid cooled and fuel injected motor. With its light 134 kg body, the bike would have been really fast on the roads and the same DNA will flow through the new Apache RTR 200. The Draken was seen with a 6-speed transmission, making way for a 6-speed unit for the upcoming Apache.

TVS Jive was discontinued because it had very less sale compared to the others in the segment. The bike was the first of its kind in India and used no clutch in changing gears. It sold a very few units and was not a popular product. The design of TVS Jive was also not what user's really wanted to have, making it more controversial on its technology as well as its looks. TVS has planned the launch of 3 new products by the end of this year, one of which for sure is the new TVS Apache RTR 200. The 220 and 250 are still considered rumors as TVS will make the 200 cc competitor for a better price tag. It is said to be influenced by the Draken concept and the this time, a bigger set of tyres could be finally seen on an Apache. The RTR 200 would definitely get the ABS option and the twin disc brake availability is also for sure. Things most expected from the bike includes a powerful and refined engine, most probably a liquid cooled and fuel injected unit. It will launch around the festive season.

Choose Unicorn for low maintenance, better and widespread service network and easy availability of parts. Choose Apache for sheer performance and looks. Unicorn comes with a 'combi-brakes' variant which helps as both brakes area applied together, whether you apply one or both. Also, in this variant both are disc brakes. Apache 160 too has a dual-disc version. A pity they have limited the ABS to 180 version because that would have made a huge difference. In terms of pickup, speed and cornering, Apache is miles ahead of the Unicorn which is a commuter at heart, albeit one that can be used as a tourer over relatively shorter distances. Honda is always stellar in terms of quality and electrical, even the switchgear is great and doesn't look tacky. One thing that goes against TVS is those shitty TVS tyres. If you change those to MRF or Ceat or Bridgestone, that makes for a fantastic bike.

A good news for TVS lovers, the RTR 200 would be the company's flagship model and would be the most powerful RTR till date. Expected to be hard on the competitors, it is expected with the Draken inspired short stroke and more powerful engine, producing approximately 21 BHP and 18 NM of torque. The design of the bike has no ideas till date as nothing has been spotted on the name of RTR series. The bike would surely be a good one as TVS is known for its good quality offerings. It is expected to be with optional ABS and disc brake for each wheel. The gearbox will be 6-speed and performance would not be compromised for sure.

The new Apache RTR 160 is the best bike as it comes with better ride quality than the old RTR 160. The bike comes with a 159.7 cc, 1-cylinder, air cooled engine and a 5-speed gearbox. It produces 15.2 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 13.1 NM @ 4,000 rpm. The front of the bike gets a 270 mm petal disc whereas the rear gets a 200 mm petal disc.
